Healthy Paws - Pet Insurance
I am so glad I signed up for the Healthy Paws insurance for my two cats. In November 2023, I had to bring my female cat to the vet for an emergency. Afterwards, I was sent to the hospital to have my cat checked into on an emergency basis. She was admitted and stayed for 3 days.
Healthy Paws - Awful customer service; no value for premiums
I made exactly one claim during the 3 years I was a policy holder. As an attorney, I am used to adversarial proceedings but never encountered that experience where I am making a first-party claim. I see where most policyholders were happy with their experience and satisfied. I, on the other hand, had among the worst customer service I have ever encountered.
Healthy Paws - As long as we have dogs, we will have Healthy Paws
After we lost Stella to IMHA in 2015 (and paid some $12,000 in vet bills over 14 months), we shopped around for pet insurance and chose Healthy Paws. Our dogs are like our children, and it is worth the monthly premium not to have to hesitate when they need care--especially when a mild-looking ailment might be masking something serious that might respond to early intervention. Healthy Paws has seen us through some two dozen injuries and illnesses, from a lacerated ear flap to a terminal case of lymphoma. Their policies are fair, transparent and easy to understand, their prices are reasonable and very competitive, their communications are prompt and their processing of claims is incredibly quick--we have received payments (via direct deposit) in as little as 3 days. And finally--having just had to put down our beloved Emma, followed almost immediately by some scary GI issues in her grieving pal Charlie--we have found Healthy Paws--the staff and the company--to be humane, helpful and genuinely compassionate. As long as we have dogs, we will continue to have Healthy Paws.
Healthy Paws - Require multiple “enrollment evaluations” and lose vet records
I’ve made one reimbursed claim in the 5ish years that I’ve had Healthy Paws. They gave me the absolute hardest time saying they never received any records for my dog from her vet, but they had been sent multiple times from the vet with fax receipts. It finally got resolved after many months and headaches. Fast forward to my second claim most recently, they tried to claim my dog needed a whole new enrollment evaluation (won’t provide a reason why) and did not have her vet records yet again. They won’t process the claim. My dog is 5 years older than she was when she first started on the insurance and they can now claim that she has changed in health. And their premium keeps increasing - so I’m paying $15 more a month and they’re losing my dog’s records. Feels like they’ll do anything to take your money but never reimburse you for claims within your policy. Definitely do not recommend.

We enrolled with Healthy Paws after significant research of its policies and of other pet insurance policies in 2020. We brought home 2 puppies and landed on Healthy Paws.
Healthy Paws - Healthy Paws is my go-to for insurance
Healthy Paws is my go-to for pet insurance. I've used them for pet insurance for more than 10 years. Right now, I actually have 2 accounts with them because an account is limited to 3 pets and I now have 4. The KEY to success with Healthy Paws is: 1) Know exactly what your policy covers and what it doesn't, and 2) Provide full medical records on your pet. One of my dogs just had extensive knee surgery. I started the claims process early with records for the initial exam and X-rays. Healthy Paws actually reached out to the surgeon themselves and obtained any other records and explanations. I had provided entire health records from my regular vet as well. I think they were trying to find out if the knee issue was a preexisting condition (it wasn't). Some policies don't cover certain preexisting conditions, so make sure you know whether your policy covers them. My dog had surgery only 3 weeks ago and I was paid back 80% minus my annual deductible by direct deposit within 2 weeks. Sweet!

Wally is my first dog and I heard about Healthy Paws from my friend. They have been amazing and they can also be reached by phone. I have found their customer service representatives to be amazing, kind, helpful and efficient!
Healthy Paws - Monthly premium increased without my authorization
Today I received notification that Healthy Paws withdrew $109 from my checking account without my approval. They claim an email was sent in July stating that my monthly premium would increase from $76 to $109. I never received the email or it went directly to junk mail. When I called to inquire they basically said "too bad." They refused to send me notifications by USPS mail and that they only use electronic transactions. Just a few short years ago, I was paying about $50 per month. Now that my pup is seven years old, its almost impossible to get reasonable insurance with another carrier due to pre-existing conditions. Finally, the representative from Healthy Paws was rude and would not let me get a word in edge wise. Extremely disappointed with Healthy Paws. I will start seeking out another carrier who hopefully will be more respectful of customers and willing to truly listen to concerns.

Dr Jackie Busch is Best vet since Dr Paul Leondis after 58 years of service in Danville died❣️She is kind, considerate, and understanding. She let me make the decisions about Layla’s health. She gave us a military discount, which was very appreciated considering my husband was in Vietnam then continued in the Navy service for 21 years. We appreciate people that recognize the sacrifices we made to keep our country free🇺🇸 The employees are exceptional ❣️I always get call backs to check on Layla which makes me know they care❣️I am so glad Dr Busch decided to open her practice here! She has cared for Layla for 6 years💗
Healthy Paws - After a traumatic event with my dog - not my claim
After a traumatic event with my dog, I submitted my invoice as a claim. I contacted the company to make sure I submitted all the information they needed. In all my communications I was treated by knowledgeable and caring staff. My several page invoice was reviewed and paid within a couple of weeks. I appreciated the efficiency and care that my claim was given. I do not hesitate to recommend Healthy Paws for your pet insurance choice.
