They overcharge for premums once your dog turns a certain age, forcing you to cancel and then leave you with nothing for your pet. Disgraceful!
Healthy Paws - I have been with Healthy Paws for 8…
I have been with Healthy Paws for 8 years, first in CA and now WA. I made very claims until the last year where I submitted monthly arthritis shots ($80) and one urgent care visit ($717) and not much before that. My dog turns 13 this month and they raised my policy from $140 a month to $626. This is outrageous and they know you can not switch a 13 year old dog to anyone else but it doesn't matter cuz I am dropping them. What kind of insurance takes your money for 8 years and then drops you? I am sorry to all my friends that I referred you to them because of positive experiences.
Healthy Paws - Increased monthly pays $50+ Ridiculous
I've been a member since 2019. I've never had to file a claim however, I have the insurance for peace of mind. Since I became a member my insurance plan has gone up $37. I was just informed it's increasing to $51 which is insane for pet insurance when all the comps are $30 lower. The increases originally started small, $2, $5 then took a jump to $10 and now $17. Not to mention they are charging 4% processing fees for using a credit card. This is just a ploy at this point to get money.
When I asked if they would match comps they would not. So I asked if they were willing to lose a customer of 6 years and they said yes.
There you have it. I'm leaving because these prices are outrageous.
Healthy Paws - Used to be decent
It used to be quite a good pet health insurance. But lately they’ve gotten a lot slower with processing time and adding more roadblocks in having claims approved.
Healthy Paws - Scam --- You guys need to be very careful
You need to be very cautious when signing up with this company. I canceled my policy seven months ago, but unfortunately, they have continued to charge my bank account all this time. I only noticed today. Even though it’s partly my fault for not keeping better track, I called the company back and they told me they have no record of my cancellation.
I canceled this policy after paying them for nine years because whenever I needed coverage, they wouldn’t cover anything, despite me having full coverage. Your pet has to undergo surgery for them to cover even basic expenses. This feels like a huge scam, so please do not work with these people.
Additionally, I would like to highlight the very poor customer service. Every time I called, it took at least three days to reach someone who could help fix my issue. Unfortunately, I found that I was never able to resolve my problem because the representatives seemed more focused on taking my money. If you encounter an issue, good luck getting it resolved.

There rates start out good when your dog is young healthy, then watch out it goes crazy high there plan is to get you to reduce your reimburstment and up your deductible. I have put in as few claims maybe most I got from them 5000 or 6000 in 10 years Ive been paying more out of pocket then putting in claims to keep his cost down but just now they raises in back to 279 plus my 1000 deductible I have a 70% reimburstment had to lower it to 50% stay away
Healthy Paws - Do NOT choose this insurance.
Substantial increases with no explanation, denying coverage claiming "pre-existing" conditions when that was not the case.
When I first obtained insurance for my dog, it was only $45 per month. I got the highest coverage at 90%. Now, it has increased to $170 per month. No explanation of why. No option to respond. Within the "waiting period" of initially getting the insurance, she ended up with an ear infection. Now ANYTHING ear-related is not covered, and unfortunately she gets frequent ear infections. I was happy with the ease of the app for a long time, which I do appreciate because it makes claims easy to file, but the increase in prices is unjustified and now they have been denying claims they should be covering - even after I email back with additional details and explanations. They claimed an infection in her paw from a friend's pool was considered "pre-existing" when it happened two weeks prior. The company was good a few years ago, but I would never recommend it now. They should be reviewed by the Better Business Bureau.
Healthy Paws - Rates keep going up and up
Started at a reasonable $25/month for our 7 month old rescue pup. Every year the monthly cost went up $5-10. About 4 years ago we had one claim of about $700. They didn't want to pay because they claimed we didn't have enough of the dog's history/records. The ASPCA was both the vet and the place we adopted from, so they had all the records the dog would ever have. Healthy Paws reluctantly paid the claim, but then raised our rates even more. After 7 years, we were at $75/month. Just got a notice they are raising it to $155/month! For no reason. Putting the money in a savings account rather than paying them any more.
Healthy Paws - Gotten Too Expensive and Difficult to Cancel
I've been with Healthy Paws for almost 10 years. Rate for my dog has now almost quadrupled and it is proving to be very difficult to cancel. I've emailed, left messages and when I finally got through, I'm now on hold with another party. They should make it easy to cancel on the site and you can't, so for this reason they've lost my trust.
Healthy Paws - Healthy Paws are thieves and crooks!
After 12 years with healthy paws, and minimal claims submitted, they increased my monthly rate by 360%. There is nothing you can do about it. Unfortunately, I have to cancel after 12 years because $450/ month is not worth it and I'd rather put that money into a savings in the event of an emergency.
