Another woeful experience with Lemonade's underwriter team (Emily J and John). They have started to make up the age of items (my roof) in order to claim non-renewal on my homeowner's policy. This isn't really surprising given they then provided their own referral link to a contractor company so they can get kickbacks.
Lemonade - Awful company don't use
Awful company! Advertise on TV that everything is fast- nope! Waiting period of three weeks and took a other month to review my claim then denied it because the vet didn't have a formal diagnosis so they said it was preexisting. All the while collecting premiums. Don't use them.

Lemonade - Business model is mislead, take money, delay, deny, then repeat while using agentic AI
They sound great and the app is easy to use but their business model and policy is to deny claims based on their understanding of the claim regardless of whether the doctor told them their interpretation is incorrect. They encourage you to appeal their denial because they want you to continue paying the premium as they delay their response to you. They use agentic AI to respond to your follow-up emails. They are all repeats of the first response email just worded slightly differently. The appeal decision repeats their original decision wording and does not take into account anything the doctor provided to them to correct their inaccurate assumptions. They make it hard to cancel and try to convince you to stay by saying no other insurance will now take my dog because his issue would be considered pre-existing. Complete waste of my time and money and an extremely frustrating experience. They sound good and talk the talk but they don't walk the walk - they truly don't care about their customers' or pets' best interests.
Lemonade - Incredibly naive. Charged for a policy that was already cancelled.
I was incredibly naive to take these people at their word. They will promise ANYTHING to sell a policy.
Lemonade - Wrongful cancellation
The insurance company sent me a renewal for Aug 12,2025 with inflated premiums. When I told them that I do not want to renew it, they cancelled my current policy as well and would not reinstate it. There was absolutely no other reason for the cancellation and they have no legal right to do so. Many emails back and forth and I gave up.
Lemonade - NO receipts, NO claim. requires receipts for all items
huge water damage in kitchen. app said to record video and pictures which I did. app asked what was damaged. so many items were damaged and I began to list them.
Lemonade - Customer service is bot-driven and awful.
“Service” is conducted entirely through chat bots. I can’t even look up when my next payment is due without going through several prompts with their chat bot. It’s obnoxious and frustrating. There aren’t enough self-service features that don’t involve talking to a bot, and the chat sometimes provides limited response options that don’t fit my situation. Taking the human element out of customer service is ridiculous.
Lemonade - App Harassment, fraudulent charge
Lemonade has an application they wanted me to use to monitor my driving. I did not want to use it and they constantly harassed me by sending text messages and emails saying they will increase the premium if I didn't use it. Also, because of this reason, every time I was logged in my Lemonade account I could see a note saying that I was “not quite covered yet”, although my car premium was paid in full. So the premium was paid and I was not covered ?!!?
Lemonade - Steer clear of this pet insurance
TERRIBLE experience with this company! I recently submitted a small claim for the pet insurance that I had with Lemonade and it was the most frustrating experience ever. You can only submit using a mobile app. Who keeps the documents they want for the claim on their phone?? The amount of juggling I had to do was just stupid. That experience should be on a browser. They insisted I also track down my previous insurance cancellation confirmation, just to then deny the claim the next day for a pre-existing condition. So why waste my time if they knew they were going to deny anyway. And their denial is complete crap as what they defined as a pre-existing condition was diarrhea. WTH?!? If your pet has ever had diarrhea it's a pre-existing condition? Stay away from this company. I fired them and went back to Pets Best.
