MetLife - MetLife keeps cancelling my dental plan - Cobra services keeps reinstating it.
I’m going insane trying to get my dental benefits sorted out with Cobra. I paid my Cobra on 3/8 (first month) and MetLife made my plan active, backdated to 3/1. On 3/12 it was canceled again. 3/15 active again. 3/17 canceled again - MetLife said call Cobra servicer. Servicer sent in a reinstatement and it was active again on 3/19.
I log in today and it’s cancelled 3/24 AGAIN. I paid for a month of benefits and I haven’t even been able to use them. MetLife acts like it’s the servicers fault. Cobra just sends in reinstatement notice. Repeat.
What do I do in this situation? I have oral surgery in a month and god only knows if it’ll be active or MetLife will decide to cancel it on that day. How do I go about escalating this?
MetLife Pet Insurance - undisclosed fees
I recently had to cancel my insurance policy within 24 hours, and I was charged a $12 enrollment fee. Dianna, a manager from MetLife Pet Insurance, mentioned that while they will refund the premium, the $12 enrollment fee is non-refundable and isn’t included in the premium. Just a friendly heads-up for fellow pet owners!
Metlife - Pet Insurance
So I did away with my previous wellness plans and went with Metlife insurance. At first they were great approving regular visits quickly and I was reimbursed quickly. But I've noticed since before December now they take extremely long to even assign the claims and then review them. It always seems like I have to reach out to them in which they always need the Doctors notes before they will approve anything. My pupps have gotten ear infections, ruptured glands, and upset stomach with diarrhea this year and it has taken several weeks and phone calls to get the claim processed and a couple I am still waiting on. So I am thinking of canceling them. Would love recommendations of a better company with a better app as well.
MetLife - Undercharged for Wisdom Teeth Removal
I had gone to a new dentist in October 2024 for a routine cleaning and was essentially "upsold" on the removal of my four wisdom teeth, as I had mentioned they were bothering me. I was told my insurance was accepted (MetLife) and that I would only pay $300 for the removal. I figured that was a great deal and had my teeth removed, paying the $300 on my way out. I received an email earlier today for a separate claim from Cigna, and decided to look at my MetLife portal as I remembered the dental claim being stuck on "pending" for some time after the procedure. According to MetLife, the cleaning and x-rays were in-network and 100% covered, but for the wisdom teeth removal, the claim was marked as out of network and my patient responsibility is $800. It has been a bit over 4 months since the procedure and I haven't received a bill from the provider - should I just leave things as they are or should I contact my insurance provider/dentist? I only accepted the procedure because of how affordable it was and confirmed with my dentist multiple times that $300 was my total cost for all 4 teeth after insurance.
MetLife - Mini Aussie 6Y - Insurance Reccomendation
Hi guys !
I'm considering switching pet insurance plans for my 6 year old mini Aussie. I currently have MetLife Pet Illness and Injury, but with one minor shoulder injury - maxed out my benefits after one visit. As my baby gets older - I want to make sure I have the best coverage for him - especially with ortho treatments ( ie. PRP injections) Any Recommendations would be very appreciated !
Metlife - Metlife is quiet possible the WORST pet insurance we have ever had (more in comments)
MetLife Insurance - MetLife Insurance- Address Change Question
Hi! I’ll get right into it-
I adopted my dog in 2021 at age 3 and got her pet insurance immediately at around $20 per month initially. The price has gone up as she aged and is around $55 per month now (she is 6 almost 7). I moved in the last few months ~10 miles away from my old apartment but still go to my same vet and have not had any significant changes otherwise. I called the pet insurance to change my address and they quoted me $139 for the same coverage I have just because I moved. Since I have been with the pet insurance a while, I feel like they just redid my quote as though I was a new customer and that’s why it’s so expensive.
For nearly triple the price I’m not willing to keep the insurance but wondering if I have any rights here or this could be escalated further? I really like my pet insurance but feel that this is outrageous especially since I have not moved that far and still go to the same vet so I don’t see how it would make that much of a difference to them.
More details- I have MetLife pet insurance. I live in Saint Petersburg, FL (moved from downtown to north st Pete and my zip code changed). I also moved from an apartment to a townhouse.
Thanks in advance!
Edit to add: no preexisting conditions except allergies (she gets a shot every 3-4 months) and nothing new that would have contributed to the price change.
MetLife - Claim Denied Due to Saying CCL Tear is an "Illness" due to an "Injury"
So I recently got pet insurance with MetLife that includes coverage for injury (no waiting period) and illness (14 day waiting period). Only a few days after the policy became active, we were playing fetch on an embankment and he came back limping. Turns out he had torn his back left CCL. When I submitted the claim, it is being initially denied and the reason is that it was within the illness waiting period.
My dog has never had any issues with limping and there are no previous notes in his vet file that he has ever had any muscular skeletal issues. Actually, there is a note that says he had "great hip mobility" from only a few months ago. When I took him in to the vet, they sent his xrays off to radiology and there is a note that says "has bilateral degenerative joint disease knee moderate left and mild right. Both hips degenerative joint disease".
My question is do you think I will win the appeal that this is an injury and not an illness? He did not have any limping previously and it was directly connected to when we were playing fetch :(.
MetLife - Good insurance for a healthy cat? Did my research and looking for more personal reviews
Okay so my cat is almost 2 yo and has no pre-existing conditions, has a primary vet, and is not spayed yet (Plan to, very soon!)
I’m looking for a good insurance that covers wellness (mostly blood test and spaying cost?) for the first year and accident&illness for the following years. I have gotten some quotes and is eyeing Odie and MetLife for that, but every insurance seems to have bad reviews, or some would even call them scams.
Please provide me some experiences/takes on the insurance you use for your cat, thanks in advance!! This could be really helpful for me ;))
P.S. the reason I want a wellness plan to cover spaying is because there’s no shelter/low cost spaying availability around me and I want to be consistent with my vet :,) my cat went into heat last week and I don’t want this to come back again so really wanna do it sooner.
MetLife - Avoid MetLife pet insurance
Got metlife pet insurance to cover dental work needed for my dog. I got the Preventive Care plan add-on so her teeth cleaning would be covered. Right in the policy it lists Spay/Neuter or Teeth Cleaning: $150, per pet. Submitted my claim on 12/17 and finally got processed today 1/17. They rejected the claim on grounds of it being a pre-existing condition. My dog's teeth had plaque on them so they denied the claim. How in the hell do you get teeth cleaning covered then?
