State Farm - Trying to get a cash claim after total loss declared
Someone hit my crappy but reliable car on the way to work a few days ago and their insurance (state farm) is trying to declare the car a total loss, but the cost of the car won't come close to getting me a new used vehicle of the same quality. The damage to the car is mostly cosmetic with only about $1000 in repairs required to get the car on the road again. But ~$4000 to repair the cosmetic damage.
The mechanic suggested I try to call them and let them know that I wanted a lower payment in exchange for the car not being totaled but whenever I call state farm I'm immediately redirected to their total loss department. Is it at all likely that I'll be able to instead do a cash claim so that I can keep my car or am I just competely fucked?
State Farm - Statefarm canceling my insurance.
So I recieved notice today that Statefarm is canceling my insurance because of three accidents going back to 2022. Two were not my fault, I was rear-ended in both. Is this typical? What insurance company you recommend?
TIA!

State Farm - Rear ended a car driving my friends car with no insurance.
WA
So this is kind of a long story but I really need some advice. In 2011, I was active duty stationed in Everett, WA. My shipmate was at the casino and called me to come pick him up because he was drinking. His car was on the naval base and I was living in the barracks. He left his key on his tire and told me to find it and come get him. I picked him up and then rear ended a car. He gave the cop an insurance card and everything was dealt with and we left the scene. He later told me the insurance card was from 2 years previous and he couldn’t believe the cop took it and let us go. He didn’t have insurance on the vehicle. We then went on a 6 month deployment and I never heard anything more from the situation. I got out of the navy and went back home to Michigan in 2014. Some time in 2014 I received papers for a court case adjudged against me. I didn’t understand how this went to court and I was never notified or able to give my side of the story. Regardless, I planned on filing chapter 7 bankruptcy if they came after my wages. They didn’t. I heard nothing more until today. I got a letter from a law group representing State Farm insurance stating I owed 99k and it needed to be paid within 6 months. 14 years after the accident occurred! Do I have any options at this point besides filing bankruptcy? Thanks in advance for any responses. I’m stressed out beyond belief. (I’ve never owned a vehicle without insurance on it and I wouldn’t have drove that one if i knew it was uninsured.)
State Farm - Previous complex reported paid balance to credit bureaus after saying the wouldn’t.
So basically, I left a complex a month before my lease was up because we bought a house. The complex was aware we were leaving before the lease was up. Upon leaving, we knew we would be billed for carpet and we made them aware our renter’s insurance would issue a check to cover majority of the balance and we would cover the remainder. Well, my renter’s insurance issued a check and they sent the entire balance to collections like within a week of the check being issued. They stated they never received the first check after I escalated the issue to their district office. The insurance company issued a second check. They apparently never received that one either. Insurance company ended up issuing payment directly to me so I could get the balance settled. Payment was put in their hand February 18th. I got a notification this morning that they reported the entire balance to collections as paid. The district manager stated that she halted the collections process and was working with me for getting payment settled. I emailed her this morning about the collection reported. Is there anything I can/need to do legally? I’m just frustrated because it feels like they deliberately tossed the checks and reported the balance to collections because they’ve done the same thing to previous renters. I just want to know if there’s anything i need to do to pursue them legally or if contacting the credit bureau is the easiest solution.
State Farm - Car insurance experience with renewing
Hi, I recently had an experience that just baffled me and I was wondering if this is normal.
I was with State Farm for decades before I realized that they really did not care about my loyalty and would give new customers a better deal.
At that time last year, I switched to progressive. I really liked their online format. It was easy to use. I could pick out exactly what coverage I wanted for what vehicle.
At my first renewal, my premium went up by $20. One of the reasons I switched companies is because I felt that I was taking advantage of by State Farm over the years by increasing the price here and there.
I called them to inquire why and I was told that it was some kind of new customer discount that could no longer be applied to the policy. It sucks, but I shrugged it off and renewed.
I recently was up for renewal again and this time I jumped by $70. I have no accidents, no tickets. There are five cars total on the policy.
I called them about 20 days before my renewal was due. I spoke with a representative. Long story short, he said that he was able to get it back down to the original price and I would have to call him at the beginning of March to apply it to my account.
I tried calling leaving messages for about 3 to 4 days and was not able to contact him so I just contacted the regular number. I had a reference number that I was able to give the rep to look up this new quote.
They acknowledge it and as they are issuing the policy, they press some button and it magically goes up by $100 now. It cannot be undone and it pissed me off. I told them I no longer wanted to renew with them and I would find somebody else.
I ended up using a online broker tool, and it led me back to progressive. Where I proceeded to input all my information and not only did they give me a quote, but this quote is cheaper than my original quote last year for the same exact coverage for 5 vehicles.
So are we just supposed to be applying as a new customer every single year for policies? Overall, I ended up saving $475.
State Farm - What do I do?
I was in an accident 12/29. My car was totaled by my insurance company (State Farm). They called my creditor (Upstart) to get a payoff total. They gave my claims agent a “10-day guarantee payoff quote.” The insurance company sent the payment in full and it processed within 4 days. The insurance company now owns the title of the car (I’ve confirmed this twice). I theoretically should owe nothing on this loan as the quote given was paid in full and the title has already been transferred. However, the creditor is still trying to charge me my monthly payments. My claims agent said they called and confirmed with the creditor that everything was indeed taken care of and the car has been paid off. He said I should no longer be getting charged payments. I figured maybe it would just take time to process the transfer or the loan payoff but my account is now past due because they’ve tried to take 2 more monthly payments. I have called several times to dispute it (because I was told it should not be my responsibility as the loan was already paid in full!) but they just say they’ll transfer me to a supervisor and then I’m on hold for 30 minutes before the line just disconnects. I’ve emailed. I’ve called. I don’t know what else to do and I cannot afford to pay these extra payments with accrued interest and late fees but it just keeps accruing. Nor should I have to since the creditor doesn’t even own the car anymore and they got all the money they asked for. Any advice in this situation is appreciated.
State Farm - Body shop overcharging, insurance doesn’t want to cover all of it? (Total loss)
Taken place in TX with State Farm. Got rear ended. Driver claimed liability. Car is a total loss. Body shop is asking for $2100 and insurance is only willing to cover $1400 and the rest out of pocket. I don’t want to pay out of pocket or through my car settlement, how can I get them to cover the whole amount? I had a rental car for a few days up until I was notified my car was a total loss and insurance doesn’t cover for it after that so I returned it. Am I also able to get reimbursed for transportation i.e rental car or uber?
State Farm - Car Vs Pedestrian
Car Came In Contact With Pedestrian
Hello All, I would just like some community input.
My mother a few days ago was driving her car in Queens, NYC, she was going about 18mph, when a pedestrian backed into traffic and came in contact with her car and was taken away by Ambulance, No damage to my mother's car and she was not injured. NYPD came and took a report and my mother's insurance. Other party literally hired an "Ambulance chaser" the next day.
In the NYPD report they state what the pedestrian said, "pedestrian pulled over her car at body shop to be looked at, she stated she opened the hood and a splash of water spewed out and startled her and she jumped backwards" (NYPD did not witness the accident and I am aware the police report does not determine fault in accidents just criminal liability, but the report is used as a tool). My mother didn't have a dash cam (lesson learned), my mother also says that someone saw a security camera footage of thr incident. I just wanna know how screwed is my family since my mom has her car and house to worry about and now this?
*Note* My mother works for the USPS and was on the clock at the time, she just drives her car to a central location on her route and then walsk her route.
I already knew State Farm would deny the claim cause my mother was on the clock. They advised the other party to file a tort claim with the USPS.
*Note, the USPS is not as transparent with its employees or customers. So I have very little faith in how this process will be handled since my mother was working at the time.
Thank you all for your input.
State Farm - Homeowners insurance estimate missing items that were on last estimate
Hello, hurricane damage claim. State Farm. Upon reviewing my latest final estimate, I noticed that it is missing around $34k of damage for items: hazardous material/asbestos removal, water remediation and tree removal. These items have already been included in previous estimates but they are not listed in the most recent one. Two line items are removed completely and the tree removal was deducted from previous demolition line item now showing $500 when it was $9000 (with tree removal)
This estimate has increased based on some other items like additional roofing repairs and other things to the tune of about $40k, but with the removal of $34k in line items it only goes a little higher. I am concerned why those items would be removed. I have a call into the adjuster but looking to see if anyone has any ideas.
I can’t tell if they took it out to see if we’d notice and playing games or what. Those items have already been paid previously and the roof is complete as well so it doesn’t make sense to me.
