your insurance company - Under insured driver at fault hit me
Hi everyone- a lady hit me with her car and 2 others. There is a limits issue and the insurance adjuster said i MUST go through my insurance to fix the car. I don't want too - I would rather just get what I can and fix the rest out of pocket. The insurance adjuster said there's nothing I can do until hear from your insurance company. Is this true? They will 1. Not give me any money at all. 2. I HAVE to go through my insurance.
My car is under my parents insurance and I don't want to touch their stuff. I don't care if I'm not at fault. This was only temporary until I got my own insurance.
Erie Insurance - Insurance Denying Claim, Door Hit in Parking Lot, Need Help
A couple weeks back I was moving into my new apartment complex, and had the door on my vehicle cracked open while I went inside to move what I was carrying before coming back out. While inside my apartment building, I received a call from the office telling me someone had hit my car. I went down to the parking lot and a man was waiting next to his truck for me. He claimed the wind had blown my door open while he was backing into the space, and that he had looked at his camera and it was closed and then he started backing up and heard it crack. The door is off its hinge, and the corner is folded over... it still shuts but it will most likely need a new door. He profusely apologized and gave me all his insurance info and contact information. His agent calls back after I file the claim (Erie), and tells me that they will not be covering the claim and that my insurance would be responsible because the wind blew it open and "there's no way he could have looked at all his mirrors 100% of the time, and its you're fault for leaving the door cracked, allowing it to blow open into his path". Since sentry mode was off ( I have a model 3), and my apartment's surveillance camera was down at the time, there is no way to show if the door was already open or had blown open. My insurance deductible is $1,000 and I don't have that at all right now. Also if I choose to do that, I'll spike my insurance for the next 2 yrs of my lease. Do I go to a lawyer?? I don't even know if I can afford one. I have no clue what to do, and I feel like my only option is to wait 2 years and hopefully fix it out of pocket before my lease ends.... but then I would be out 2/3k for a new door. Someone help me out here....what do I do?
school insurance - Approved For Medicaid, Now What?
Non-working graduate student recently approved for Medicaid, but prior to this I had purchased my schools shitty student coverage.
Obviously, the coverage for Medicaid beats the school insurance. I called the school insurance and asked them if I could cancel because I want Medicaid as my primary insurance but they told me that is not possible and won't give me a pro-rated refund.
I paid $2000 at the beginning of the school year for the insurance for the whole year coverage, and I figured they would be able to refund me a portion of that since I wanted to cancel, but they seemed appalled I even asked to cancel and told me to kick rocks. It wasn't even the insurer, it was the insurance broker who told me this.
Am I stuck with school insurance as my primary and Medicaid as my secondary? I don't want to just stop using my school insurance and start using Medicaid as that would technically be insurance fraud?
Sorry if this is a strange question; I am not well-versed in this world.
Thank you for your time
old insurance - Insurance and collection agencies and credit score?
Hi, yes a throwaway account cuz im a bit nervous
So starting a few weeks after changing insurance providers, the pharmacy accidentally (?) put some meds on the wrong insurance(multiple times tbh, and the last one was over 6 weeks after the insurance had been stopped?!) .
i get a notice maybe a month later saying i owe them quite a large sum of money. I go back and forth for about half a year before i was able to get a check from my new insurance to cover it.
It isnt even the whole amount, but it helps. Now im so frustrated w the old insurance for putting us thru so much hassle. I tried to do a payout w them for like half the amount for all the trouble and after their review, they denied that request.
But what if i were to let it go to collections and then do a lump sum payout with them?
Any ideas how badly that would affect my credit? Im floating typically around 800 so i have decent credit. Or does medica debt even count towards credit score? I feel like i cant find a solid answer to that…im in the midwest usa for reference. Or even, what am i mot considering by doing this? I could def use the extra money, this whole situation was not my intention. It was rly super stressful tbh.
Thoughts? Thanks everyone in advance! Any suggestions advice etc welcome.
Your Insurance Company - Billing primary care as specialist
My primary care provider is a PA with a family practice. I have seen her many times and paid just my office copay. My last visit was billed as a specialist visit and is requiring the specialist copay. My insurance is saying that they consider PA's to be specialists so are billed accordingly but could not explain why every other visit was billed as an office visit. On their provider directory her copay is listed as the office visit one.
I confirmed with my doctor's billing department that they did not bill it any differently so it should not require the specialist copay. I've spent days calling my insurance but every time they "review" the claim they come up with the same answer.
Any ideas on how I can get this fixed?
Insurance Commission of WA - Regrading loss of salary
Location: perth wa
Last year my partner got rear ended in march 2024 while they were on the way to work. Got admitted in Fiona stanly for three days to do test and scans and lodged the claim with insurance commission of wa . They kept asking documents and stuff for 4-5 months yesterday (after 1 year going back and forth)got payed $787 from insurance commission as one of payment as a loss of salary while they are still not capable to be back to work. Is it worth proceeding it with legal ways to get compensation for the loss of salary. Salary was $950 average a week.
Thank you
His insurance - Do I need to get an attorney involved for this lowball settlement offer?
The accident occurred on 3/20 and was told they’re taking 100% fault.
It all happened so fast, but I was on my way to work in the morning driving 45 in a 45 (it’s also dark and raining). I’m coming up to a 2-way crossroad where the guy’s road had a stop sign and mine didn’t. When I got close to the crossroad I see that he’s rolling up to the stop sign and I assume he’s stopping..because there’s a stop sign. Instead, he keeps rolling into the middle of the lane where I proceed to slam on my brakes and instinctively veer to the left to avoid him but I end up completely smashing the side of his car at 45 mph. I ended up missing that Thursday and Friday and returned to work on Monday since I was told I wouldn’t have to do much work.
He ended up not even having a scratch while I have to go to the ER because I was so rattled and didn’t really know the extent of my injuries besides not being able to hear out of my left ear due to it ringing and sounding really muffled. I get a CT scan at the ER and was told that they couldn’t find anything major, so they sent me home with some muscle relaxers and a note for “light work no lifting” for work. A couple days later, I started feeling the extent of my injuries. Taking a deep breath, laughing, coughing, anything that expanded my rib cage or moved/put any pressure on my shoulder blade hurt really bad. My neck was stiff from the whiplash and I could crack my neck in ways I never had. My ear was still muffled with loud ringing and was very disorienting. This affected my sleep, work, daily activities like driving, working out, or even cleaning my apartment.
It has been a week and a half since the accident and I’m still feeling all that pain. Albeit, not as significant and alarming as last week, but I still have a muffled left ear with some ringing, pain when my chest expands, shoulder blade pain, anxiety whenever I drive(which is a huge part of my job), sleeping issues, and as silly as this sounds, has destroyed my happiness. I got engaged the weekend before the accident and wanted the celebrate with friends the weekend after, but I wasn’t even able to leave our apartment to celebrate because of how much pain I was in.
His insurance has offered me $2,500 for pain and suffering but I feel like that’s a slap in the face. I explained my situation to an attorney and he said it looks like they can make a decent case but said he couldn’t give me a number on how much he thought the case would be worth.
So my questions are, can someone give me a ballpark estimate on how much I should negotiate for?
&
Do I need an attorney involved or is this a situation where I should fight the claim and negotiate myself?
TL;DR
I got in a high speed accident and his insurance is accepting 100% fault. I got out lucky but am still experiencing injuries like whiplash, some bruised ribs, shoulder blade pain, and muffled hearing. His insurance offered $2,500 and I don’t believe that’s enough for what I’ve gone through. How much could I counter offer for and should I get an attorney involved?
Edit: I apologize, I did end up going to a primary care doctor last Friday but he told me the pain I experienced is common and went over the CT scan that the ER did and said “everything looks fine here”. I have an ear, nose, mouth appointment this Friday.
Edit 2: I’m sorry if these seem like stupid questions, I’m just really young and don’t have any help outside of my mother.
my insurance company - Car accident advice
I just recently got into a car accident where I was turning left on and intersection right after my light turned green, and the other driver was to my right side driving straight through the intersection with a red light.
They hit me on the front right side of my car and my car was deemed totalled.
I called the insurance company and she has not yet made a detailed statement on her insurance or police report (the accident happened at around 6pm on Monday). My insurance is deeming this 100% my fault. How do I get out of this? It obviously was not my fault as she ran then red, but they are saying there is no proof to her running a red light, which is true, I have none. But why does it then have to be 100% my fault? It is so so frustrating, and I would like some help going forward with this.
I haven’t signed any papers for the insurance company yet and am hoping to dispute this. Do I have a leg to stand on? Thanks.
Edit: I should also add that I have told my insurance company about her carrying an expired insurance sheet and her driving for Uber Eats with her car not registered as a commercial used vehicle.
Travelers Insurance - Condo Insurance After Total Fire Loss
After a family member had a total loss from their condo building fire, TRAVELERS Insurance paid the claim but cancelled their policy. Now, they're having issues finding Insurance companies that will insure them. Any ideas? Has anyone experienced this problem?
the insurance company - Insurance question
I am a trusting person. I will state this upfront.
We switched home insurance carriers last year. I was told by someone that they discontinued our vinyl siding and to purchase or look for a matching endorsement for it when I switched.
I talked with the insurance salesman who I asked if they have a matching endorsement for vinyl siding. He said “it is not needed”
i then asked clearly “if one side of our house is damaged and the siding has been discontinued you will replace all of the siding correct?” His response was “yes we will make it right, we will make you whole”
Low and behold. Massive hail damage to one side of our house. Our siding is discontinued. Insurance says we will just try and match it to the best we can.
Is there any recourse here?
