my insurance - Valet driver damaged my car
Hello all, thank you in advance for your help, this has been a nightmare of a case with the valet company that services my apartment building.
Long story short, the valet that parks the residents cars at my apartment building backed my car into a wall causing significant damage to the trunk and bumper. The valet is denying responsibility given there was no camera that captured it happening in real time.
The valet company is refusing to give me their insurance information, and my insurance is claiming the valet driver is a “permissible driver” and therefore the liability falls on me.
Now my insurance is being raised by almost double because I now have an “at fault” accident on my record.
What is the best course of action here? How can I get the valet’s insurance info? Any help here is greatly appreciated…
Nationwide Pet Insurance - Advice to change insurance for two 4yo cats?
I have two cats, Fox and Ollie. They are brothers and turn four in September.
I got Nationwide Pet Insurance in July 2024 for the first time. I did not notice at the time, but their plans didn't match.
Fox's was $189 for the year, Ollie was $190.
I called to change the renewal policy so it was the same, and to add Behavioral coverage. I wanted to match Ollie's coverage to Fox's, add behavioral.
Fox's renewal, with NO CHANGES, increases by $125/YEAR in July. The woman on the phone said it's "because he is a year older." Lady, he will be FOUR this year. FOUR.
Current: $19/mo > $29/mo
So, recommendations? They are two boys, indoor, vaccines up to date but no recent vet visit.
I'm mildly concerned Ollie has a behavioral issue but no diagnosis and running off vibes and tiktok diagnosis, not real doctors. I am going to wait to take him to the vet about this until I have the right insurance policy JIC, but SHOULD I even have cat insurance?!?!
Otherwise, they're two healthy young cats. Indoor. Thoughts?
his insurance company - Insured driver cant be found
Was in an accident 2 weeks ago, brand new (to me) car and havnt even made the first payment. the at fault driver had an expired "limited term" drivers license. after police report and information exchanged i have been given the runaround by his insurance claiming that they cannot reach him for a statement so they will deny and close the claim. is this even legal? do i need a lawyer like right now?
Thank you everyone for the replies, sounds like i was overthinking alot of this. proceeding with my insurance company to let them go after him or his insurance company and just have the car back.
ASPCA Pet Insurance - WARNING ASPCA PET INSURANCE PRACTICING BAD FAITH INSURANCE
ASPCA Pet Insurance Is Engaging in Bad Faith Claim Denials
Pet owners need to be warned—ASPCA Pet Health Insurance refuses to honor valid claims and will shift excuses to avoid payouts.
My dog, Ash, suffered an acute ACL tear after slipping—a sudden accident. As a retired veterinary technician, I have personally assisted in ACL surgeries and know this was trauma-induced, NOT a progressive condition.
ASPCA first denied coverage by falsely calling the injury an illness, despite veterinary documentation confirming it was an accident. When I challenged their reasoning, they changed their excuse, now claiming the medical records did not specify BOTH a timestamp AND exact location.
The medical records clearly state: "Presented for limping on right rear leg since yesterday, after slipping…Lame right rear - ACL tear."
When I demanded a policy citation proving their timestamp/place requirement, they refused to provide one. Instead, they responded with: "You can reply to this email with any concerns, and they will be forwarded to our management team. If you prefer, you can send your concerns in writing to our office."
ASPCA would rather deflect and stall than fairly review claims. Their tactics are clear: ❌ Ignore veterinary evidence ❌ Shift denial reasons instead of applying consistent policy terms ❌ Refuse to cite an actual exclusion supporting their decision
I have filed a complaint with the Illinois Department of Insurance (IDOI) and will be sharing my experience widely to warn others about their unethical practices. If you have coverage through ASPCA, be cautious—they will do anything to deny a legitimate claim.
Has anyone else had similar issues with pet insurance companies? Let’s talk. People deserve transparency, and our pets deserve the coverage we paid for.
Ohio Insurance Company - Can I negotiate settlement up, Ohio
I have a 2025 Toyota Camry with 14,000 miles. It got covered with a coating of cement.
The insurance company offered me $3,700. My Toyota dealership has said they will take the car plus $5,500 and give me a new 2025 Toyota Camry.
Is there any way to negotiate with my insurance company for the additional $1,800? The body shops are coming back saying it's going to cost between $5000 and $8,000 to fix. That doesn't include diminished value which I could file after it's fixed.
It seems to me that offering the insurance company $5,500 to close this claim forever is a really good deal for the insurance company because they will almost certainly spend more if I get the car fixed.
Any advice on how to get the insurance company to agree?
I'm buying the new car regardless. It's being shipped in and I'm picking it up Thursday.
Edit to add: my insurance company will have to subrogate with the contractors insurance company. The contractor is 100% at fault.
Pets Best Insurance - Help with canceling Pets Best Insurance
Hello people, I am a bit of a pickle right now :(
I have been trying to cancel my Pets Best subscription/insurance for a good few days with no luck, the main reason why is because their prices have got up by a lot, and it simply isn’t in my budget atm, plus (knock on wood), my two cats are perfectly healthy besides the usual meowing because they aren’t allowed to eat every 5 mins.
I have called them so many times but I have been put on hold for 25-30 mins. It is really frustrating because I am worried they will charge me despite low funds in my account, making my account go into the negatives. And of course, me not wanting to pay 59 bucks a month when it was originally 47 bucks a month when I first joined almost 2 years ago. If anyone has any advice, please share.
Root Insurance - Think i'm screwed, what to do (Hail Damage)
Okay so I have a new vehicle, and I decided to use Root Insurance. Usually the insurance websites automatically add comprehensive and collision when you state it's financed. So I thought it had. Anyway, it was liability only. Now last week there was a hailstorm and it did some damage to the car. Not hardcore but it js noticeable up close. What can I do? All I can do is fix it right with my own money? Will the bank go after me? I'm just so lost right now any advice would be appreciated.
Fetch Insurance - Fetch Insurance | 50 Claims
Aside from the appalling over 100% premium increase in my renewal this year because my dog turned 10, I've noticed two new things in my Fetch policy.
If you have more than 50 claims they can remove discounts and lower coverage. I always knew if you had a lot of claims it would cost you BUT how is the 50 counted? Every prescription claim counts? My dog gets 4 prescriptions a month, some only 10 bucks but it might increase my plans because of the number 50??
Next is the sublimit on prescriptions. Shouldn't be surprised when I saw them add their own pharmacy option. So if you use their preferred pharmacy that's waived. Great. But 2 of my dogs prescriptions are compounded eye drops and not available on their site. Nothing I can do about that?
Has anyone ran into issues with these two new policy changes? Mostly worried about the claim one. I probably submit 4 to 5 a month of just meds. I used to put them all in one claim once a month but they kept messing up that way 🙄
Wishbone Pet Insurance - Dog rupture CCL 5 days before 6-month CCL waiting period
I have Wishbone pet insurance, and they are very slow to response for either. Everyone has been very nice, but my claim just got denied for 6 months after my dog ruptured her CCL. What is frustrating is she had the zoomies on 5/3/2025 and that is when she tore her CCL. My waiting period is 5/9/2025. Am I just out of luck and 5 days is the difference between 3k out of pocket?
Embrace Pet Insurance - Embrace Pet Insurance DENIED Neurological brain scan because of "pre-existing" itchy skin
Ok, this is absolutely insane to me but coming here to see if anyone has any advice or thinks I'm overreacting.
My dog's TLDR background:
* almost 2 years old, GSD mix with cattle dog, pit, husky
* has been exhibiting some intense anxiety (can't take him on walks) and sensitivity to noises (these send him into a panic)
* our trainer noticed he had a head tremor when he was about 5 months old, but my husband and I never noticed it, neither did our first two vets. Our current vet noticed it + an eye tremor about two months ago and recommended we see a neurologist and get an MRI
* Thankfully the MRI showed a normal brain but it did show an inner ear infection
The MRI was almost $5k. I submitted it to Embrace and they DENIED it because they are saying his inner ear infection is related to his itchy skin that he had when we rescued him at 6 weeks old, and therefore falls under his pre-existing condition. The MRI wasn't to identify the ear infection, that's just something that happened to show up. The MRI was for his brain health to see if we could determine why his behavior has gotten so anxious and he's started showing aggression.
I've included screenshots of their "reasoning" and it seems absolutely crazy to me.
Has anyone experienced something similar or have advice on how to proceed?
