my insurance company - Being sued and not sure what will happen next
Location: Houston, Texas
On July 15th 2024, I was involved in an accident with a driver.
It was a two-way street and I was at the middle crossing section ready to yield to the street I need to go. I noticed a driver coming out from the plaza and looked like they are waiting to cross to the street where I was coming from. Before yielding, I made sure no incoming cars and safe to go; attempted the yield. As I turned, the car from the plaza crossed the street and a collision happened where my front hit their side. Police was called but no report was made as they said it was minor. The other driver insisted the police to give me a ticket but they didn’t and sent us home after we exchanged insurance.
After that, I did all my obligations with my insurance company and they denied claims from the other driver as they said it was not my fault and I had the right to yield. Fast forward to now, I received a paper said I’m being sued for personal injury but in remember the police asked the driver questions to determine if the driver need medical attention and the driver said no.
I contacted my old insurance right away to inform them about the sue paper. I don’t know what to do from here.
Progressive - Progressive told me not to worry about the fact that I'm going over my limits by ~$9000....
When the adjuster was going over the fact that their car was going to be a total loss, a 2022 Kia Sorento, that they were valuing at $34,000, $9000 over my limit.
I hit them doing like 7 miles an hour, but it must have done frame damage... I just didn't see them, and t-boned them as they were making a left turn, while I was trying to make a left turn.
They told me that they were going to have them file a claim against their own insurance, and its "progressive versus progressive; so, it's not like they're going to fight it", and to not worry about it.
I'm not about to get blindsided with a $9,000 past due bill after being told to, "not worry about it", am I?
Nationwide - another nationwide post
pretty pissed tbh...my corgi went through a bad bout of emergency diagnostics early this year, all covered by nationwide at the time.
He went back recently to have a recheck, sent it into nation wide like I had already done, suddenly it's denied. I did the review request and provided tons of documentation from the doctors. they claim its preexisting, and also went and retroactively said that all of my other claims shouldn't have been paid out.
He was diagnosed with protein losing enteropathy, and they're saying that because he "vomited" earlier in the year (our first sign), thats preexisting. This is insane. Cancel your shit before you have an emergency and it happens to you
Pets Best - I have been waiting for payment for my…
I have been waiting for payment for my cat's surgery. I have received communication from the company stating theinformation has bee submitted for approval since 09/25/2025. All information was sent. They have my phone number, email address and still no other contac5.
Trupanion - Although I’m happy you’re covered…
Although I’m happy you’re covered something in this time. I really could’ve used coverage for everything without these crazy deductibles and fees unfortunately he’s not gonna make it.
Pets Best - Bummed at coverage
Unfortunately, I was forced to switch to Pet’s Best after the old insurance I had for 7+ years kept rising. As soon as I did, my poor dog started to have issues and Pet’s Best found every reason not to cover things. Where I was trying to save $, Pet’s Best has cost me more.
Embrace - Embrace insurance is very deceiving on…
Embrace insurance is very deceiving on how they do their claims. They nit pick all the fees picking only the low fees like a cone for an emergency visit but not the actually emergency exam and medicine. I feel this is a rip off for all customers. Also the claims adjusters are not good trying to have customer do their job and me having to spoon feed them on how to communicate and read their own email. Do not recommend this company for anyone.
Healthy Paws - Don't be deceived by the tons of fake…
Don't be deceived by the tons of fake "invited" reviews the company is producing in order to counter the very real and legitimate continuing trend of negative reviews. Healthy Paws has completely gone down the toilet and is utter garbage now.
I had them for my previous dog over a decade, until she passed away a few years ago and they were very good. Took care of everything with only minor issues. So, when I got a new dog, I obtained a new policy with them without question. BIG mistake. Should have read the reviews on places like Reddit and here to see what a trash heap they have become.
Healthy Paws of old is gone, and the new Healthy Paws is about massive policy increases and endless garbage BS excuses to not pay claims. Refused to pay my 4 digit medical bill for a procedure I approved because I was confident they would pay, but they refused. Communication is horrible, denials are just arbitrary, appeals non existent, phone support is off shored trash where they just read a script, customers regularly document insane premium increases of 100s of % from their starting point.
Stay FAR away from this dumpster fire of a company and do not let them cheat and deceive you with their sudden flood of "positive" reviews they purchased with "invited" positive feedback.
MetLife - you take too long to review
you take too long to review your claims, you have more than doubled your cost in less than 3 years.
Embrace - I canceld my policy because of this.
I guess this leading statement in the comments box, "What went wrong this time?", explains their work. My dog is experiencing something to cause him to vomit and I've had numerous tests done on him to see what might be the cause. Because a vet visit 11 & 1/2 months ago mentioned vomiting, Embrace stated this is a preexisting condition. Vomiting? Really? Who has a dog who didn't. My case is extreme this time, but Embrace refused to reimburse me a dime on anything. They said he would be covered for vomiting in the future if he has no further case of it for 12 months. I guess I missed the window of opportunity by half a month.
