Trupanion - Trupanion is the worst.
Trupanion is the worst.
I’ve been paying $68 a month since January. It’s now September, and I’ve already spent over $500 in vet bills this year.
Yesterday, my dog cut his paw on a piece of glass. Trupanion refused to cover the cost because their deductible is per condition. That means the $500 I already paid in vet bills this year doesn’t count—since those expenses were for a different issue, I have to start all over again with a new deductible for this paw injury.
Because of that, I ended up paying $206 out of pocket yesterday (and it would have been $400 if the vet hadn’t kindly waived some fees). Meanwhile, I’ve wasted $68 every single month on a policy that doesn’t actually help.
So let me be clear: Trupanion is a scam. You pay them every month, rack up hundreds in vet bills, and still end up paying out of pocket for everything because of their “per condition deductible.” They don’t care about you or your pet.
I’m canceling my policy immediately and warning others—don’t waste your money on Trupanion.
Embrace - They are such a pain to deal with
They are such a pain to deal with. You can upgrade your account online but can’t remove the wellness part without calling
Embrace - Invalid preexisting conditions listed!
My first claim was super easy using the mobile app. It only took a couple days and the reimbursement should be in my bank account soon. 5 star experience. However, I had to take away a couple stars because soon after signing up my two very healthy puppies, on one of them, Embrace listed FOUR pre-existing conditions taken from my (very thorough) veterinarians detailed notes. The adjuster took comments totally out of context, listed as preexisting conditions, and (in my opinion) to have reasons to deny coverage. One of the four conditions was listed as permanent and my veterinarian will be helping me to appeal as it is totally resolved. A complete hassle to have to go thru an appeal process and to have the other three temporary conditions be on my puppy’s record for 12 months. I was extremely discouraged by these invalid conditions and was tempted to cancel my policy. Instead, I’ve chosen to continue for a while and as mentions, my claim for the other puppy was handled promptly.

She made me feel like I was annoying her and that I did not know what I was talking about.
Pets Best - Pets Best is the worst
Claims take forever 99% of the time, prices go up significantly every single year. Horrible app, I cant say enough bad things about Pets Best, & npw I am stuck because his allergies are now a "pre-existing condition"
Nationwide - Coverage seems good-BUT ——
Coverage seems good. However, I had to fill in the form at least three times and at the end said something went wrong and would have to try back later. I am not pleased that two months, actually more than two months payment will be taken and the next month must be paid in addition to the two months. This is not like renting a house, it is an insurance policy for an animal.
Embrace - So far all im getting are requests for…
So far all im getting are requests for things like dr appts for a dog that was just returned to me after 8 months. Almost implying that I would not be covered. Still its under review and that is disturbing to me.I've been paying for months now. All I get is the phone clerk reading a statement that is saying nothing of value. I will be researching a better insurance.
MetLife - Hard at times to send in for…
Hard at times to send in for reimbursement and takes a while for judgement
MetLife - Claims are getting placed on hold…
Claims are getting placed on hold because the adjuster claims there is no invoice. I submitted 2 invoices with all of the info on them for meds. This is frustrating you have individuals who cannot or do not want to do their job!
Thank you,
Betsy
PS...This has happened several times to my claims!
Nationwide - The website is too difficult
The website is too difficult. You asked me at the start what my HOME zip code is. Then at the end when I wanted to purchase, you asked me my BILLING address, but I couldn't edit the ZIP code and I had to hit back, back, back all the way to the start to change the Zip code to my billing Zip code. They should have an option on the check-out page to change the billing zip code.
