Have an issue with your insurance?
Let everyone know!
Insurance companies are constantly reviewing us. Are we too old? Do we live in the wrong place? Is our credit score high enough? Well, now it's time to turn the tables. Do you charge too much? Will you pay my claim quickly? Is your coverage worse than it seems? We can review you too.
Figo - I recommend to stay away from Figo
I purchased the policy with Figo for my healthy 3-months-old puppy; Included wellness benefits (preventative) in the coverage.
a) Figo only covered a very limited amount for the vaccinations and wellness exam that I specifically chose to pay the premium for ($165 out of $548.84).
b) When I took Charlie to be examined for a few skin issues that I thought could've been problematic (after the waiting period was over!!!), Figo found a way to not cover it because I told the doctor that they appeared 4-5 days ago, and 5 days was apparently prior to the end of the waiting period. The fact that I said 4-5 AND that I waited to take him to the vet AFTER the waiting period was over didn't matter, I guess.
c) But the last drop was the denial of half of the charges for the diarrhea appointment. To deny the coverage for the test for parasites while the puppy is having such severe diarrhea is absurd!
And the medication the vet prescribed was not "medicated" enough, it was too "natural" for Figo, so they didn’t cover it as well.
I refuse to give my business to the insurance company that has no care for animals and only cares for their bottom line.
Trupanion - Disgusted
The cost of my dogs insurance is now more than my own. You people are ridiculous. $200 a month from what used to be originally around $60 a month. Constantly hiking up the costs. You called it an increase due to the cost in the area but the costs have not changed AT ALL at my vet. This is directly tied to the fact that I now have hit his lifetime deductible for his skin issues and now you actually have to start paying something towards his care so you're balancing that by jacking up the rate. Congratulations on making pet care as shitty as human healthcare. Well done. I'm sure your shareholders will applaud.
Update: spoke with your customer service. Nothing has been resolved other than verification of what I already wrote. You cannot justify the recent 30% increase when inflation is less than 4% in my area. This is nothing more than a counterbalance to offset the fact that his deductible has recently been met and now you actually have to live up to your end of the agreement.
Embrace - 96% premium price increase
I've used Embrace for seven years and have no complaints about the coverage or reimbursement process, but for the second year in a row the premium for one of my dogs has spiked significantly.
I always expect a slight price increase from year to year, but having one dog's premium increase from $190 to $370 per month is outrageous.
No amount of demurring about a dog's breed, age, the longevity of the policy, or vet care cost increases can possibly justify this kind of price hike.
I'm disappointed that Embrace is choosing to do this, especially given that pre-existing conditions aren't covered by other insurance carriers, which essentially locks current clients in regardless of predatory rate increases.
Pets Best - Our dog had an intestinal blockage
Our dog had an intestinal blockage, pretty routine. We had the surgery, paid, submitted the paperwork to Pets Best in the claim, here we are almost 30 days later and cannot get reimbursed. They claim they are waiting for medical records from our regular vet. This is not true since we are in constant communication with our vet. Total scam.
Trupanion Canada - Disappointing experience
My information was entered incorrectly on my initial policy, and the company displayed no goodwill towards rectifying the consequences of their mistake for myself and my kitten 😔 was initially excited to get going but will be forced to explore other options.
Spot - My experience with SpotPetSource has…
My experience with SpotPetSource has been horrible. Their claims and reimbursement process is unreliable, misleading, and frustrating, making it nearly impossible to trust their service.
Nationwide - Nationwide Not on Myside
I am already disappointed in a company who I thought values the customer and demonstrates integrity.
I recently signed my 2 puppies up for insurance. Same bread , same age same type of policy yet I was charged higher rate for one puppy than the other. That’s crazy! I reserve my judgment and decide ed to call thinking surely this is an error? I stayed on hold and the phone hung up, then after I called back A nice lady told me she could switch me over to the correct department. I advised I was not interested in holding for over 15 minutes only to not speak to someone.
I instead requested a callback. Well no call back ever happened.
I guess Nationwide isn’t as respectable as I thought!!
My second request was a simple name change correction to one of the puppies. I again was advised by a nice lady that I had to grant permission and she gave me the link. That was done same day. Guess what I received no email response that this was resolved either!!
How can I trust a company that has such poor customer service!!!
Your rating is a deserving one star!!
Pets Best - Not worth getting this insurance
I recently had an emergency procedure for my dog, a few months after purchasing this insurance. The whole procedure bill was over $800, which also covered my $500 deductible. After the insurance agency reviewed my claim, all I was refunded was $50. I spend $70 a month for this insurance, and all I got back was a bill that doesn't even cover the monthly payment. Honestly, I think unless you find yourself in a situation where you need to pay over $5000, the pet insurance is not worth it. Within a year of just putting the $70 a month into a savings plan, that alone would cover this bill.
Embrace - Confusing
While I appreciate the idea of insurance...I have struggled to understand what is and is NOT covered. I thought that an injury/illness would be covered up to the % we selected - not subject to the deductible - which seems to be applied to our wellness plan. It is somewhat confusing.
ASPCA - This pet insurance was the worst experience!!!
This pet insurance has been the worst experience so far. I've had nothing but trouble when trying to use it. They always claim it's a pre-existing condition. My teacup Pomeranian has short legs, which means when he jumps too high, he dislocates his kneecap (luxating patella). The vet says he needs surgery to stabilize the knee joint after a tear of the cranial cruciate ligament, and that surgery costs $3,800. But this insurance company denied my claim, saying it was a pre-existing issue. It's so frustrating to pay for insurance all year, and then when you actually need it, they just won't cover anything. I definitely don't recommend this pet insurance. They only care about the money and don’t seem serious at all!
