Have an issue with your insurance?
Let everyone know!
Insurance companies are constantly reviewing us. Are we too old? Do we live in the wrong place? Is our credit score high enough? Well, now it's time to turn the tables. Do you charge too much? Will you pay my claim quickly? Is your coverage worse than it seems? We can review you too.
The Lizard - The Lizard Lied
I have auto through the lizard. Long story, so I apologize in advance.
In May, I bought a new car, and wanted to add my husband and the new car so we would all be on one policy. I didn’t know that I wasn’t supposed to cancel my policy and make a new one, but that’s what ended up happening. I called them and asked if they could reinstate my old policy and add the 2. A supervisor got the approval to do it and transferred me to a lady in a department I’m not sure of. That lady told me I should keep the new policy because it is cheaper. I asked if both policies were exactly the same. She went line by line and confirmed they both had the same coverage. I asked why the new policy was cheaper if they were exactly the same. She told a story about how each policy is owned by different companies and they set their own rules of how they want to handle it. I said, well if you’re saying they’re exactly the same, I guess I’ll keep the new one then but only because you confirmed they were the same coverage. She was typing the whole time and said she was writing the notes in an email.
Fast forward to July, the first car (not the new one) got struck by lightning and I tried to file a claim. They told me I didn’t have comprehensive or collision and refused to help. I tried having supervisors try to locate the recording of the phone call with that lady, or find an email or transcript that showed the full conversation. They are saying it doesn’t exist, and there is no recording of it at all. If they could find it, they could retroactively fix the comprehensive and I could continue with the claim. Supervisors also have said that manager level and above calls don’t get recorded. Is there anything I can do at this point? I know they record everything, but they are saying it doesn’t exist. I don’t know what else I can do.
Safeco - Safeco Offering Only $500 After Driver Crashed Into Our Home – Is This Fair?
Location: Seattle, Washington
Hi everyone,
I’m looking for advice or similar experiences.
A few weeks ago, a driver crashed into our house. The impact broke our front door, left insulation exposed, and traumatized my family. My wife witnessed the crash, screamed in panic, and we have video with audio capturing her emotional reaction. Since then, she’s been unable to sleep, cries at loud noises, and constantly fears it could happen again.
Our 8-month-old baby was also in the house. While some say “babies don’t remember,” there’s real research showing even infants can be affected by trauma — especially when their caregiver is distressed.
We had to cancel a planned international trip in September and also dealt with harassment from a contractor who was supposed to do repairs, adding even more stress.
We submitted:
• The video showing my wife’s panic
• Travel cancellation documents
• Research on trauma in infants
Despite all of this, Safeco (the driver’s insurer) is only offering $500 for emotional distress. They say we haven’t “proven” our case — even though the trauma is documented and undeniable., no real explanation.
Has anyone dealt with Safeco before in a similar situation?
Is $500 a typical offer for something like this?
What would you consider a fair amount based on the circumstances?
Thanks in advance — this situation has been overwhelming for our family, and any insight or shared experience would mean a lot.
I used ChatGPT to explain this situation here.
Physicians Mutual - Questions about Physicians Mutual
I’m looking for reviews of Physicians Mutual pet insurance and wondering if anyone can answer some questions I have about their sample policy. I’m mainly wondering about their “per incident copay” and “covered incident limit”. I called for more information and the guy I spoke to acted like that was the first he’d ever heard of those terms. So I’m wondering if anyone knows what these copays and limits are or if they even exist? Any info is appreciated!!
insurance company Y - accident covered by non-insurance company?
Two weeks ago, I got rear-ended by a commercial truck owned by a logistics company, X.
I originally filed the claim through their insurance company, Y (as listed on the driver information exchange).
A few days later, insurance company Y told me that company X would cover the accident and gave me a claim number with X.
I can only get in touch with X by email (which has very slow correspondence), and their phone line is always busy. After I sent them all the information they requested, the only response I got was that they are "reviewing" the case and will discuss it after that—without mentioning how long it will take. Since they are not an insurance company, I assume they don’t handle claims in the standard way.
Now it's been more than two weeks, and I still have no idea how they plan to address this.
Are there any legal requirements for how soon they need to respond and resolve the issue? (I do not want to go through my own insurance and pay out of pocket.)
What actions can I take to push them to make progress on this?
Any suggestions or advice would be greatly appreciated!!!!
Progressive - Auto insurance recommendations - for someone with less than one year driving history in the US
I currently have Progressive but they just jacked up rates without even a "hey we are going to raise your premium from next month".
Erie Insurance is highly recommended but they seem to have strict criteria such as 3 year residency status (which is what an agent told me) hence am looking for other options.
I am looking for good customer service - does not give you the run around when you need them. Decent prices. I am not looking for the lowest rates but at the same time something that is fair. And transparent. I kinda feel cheated by Progressive who slyly raised the rates.
Am based in PA if that matters.
Any suggestions welcome. Thank you.
rental car's insurance company - can car renter/insurance take away my driver's license?
Accident Location: USA, florida (my residence and my driver license is central usa)
i once had a car accident while driving rental car in florida
Rental car's insurance company charged me for Diminished Value and say if i don't pay that they will get to some florida state's govt agency and take away my driver's license. What are they saying basically and is this even possible? The car accident case was dismissed and i'm not guilty.
Allstate - Car Insurance Drastically Increasing
I have Allstate currently, paying ~$300/month for bare minimum requirements on financed car. Final payment was just drafted, and they sent me renew documents. New monthly premium will be almost $400/month. No accidents, incidents, new drivers, nothing. Everything is exactly the same as when I started the policy. Why would it go up so much? I expected an increase but I feel like this is a lot. I’m a fairly young driver (22) with a newer vehicle, so I know that’s a factor, but I simply can’t afford to pay that much. Is it going up for everyone?
Owner Guard - Gap insurance
Hey, has anyone ever dealt with owner guard gap insurance. I have been calling them for 5 days and emailing them and no one answers. It seems to only be one person that is working that is in a total different department. They don’t even have a headquarters if anyone has been in contact with them please let me know. I’m just trying to get a hold of anyone because someone totaled my car and I’m left paying out of pocket. Thank you for your time.
FBFS - Should I send a letter of intent or file a lawsuit against prior home insurance company?
Looking for advice on dealing with an insurance dispute with prior insurance company.
In July 2023, a hailstorm damaged my home’s Structural Insulated Panels (SIPs) that had rolled roofing on them. Company initially agreed the panels needed replacement because rolled roofing couldn’t be reapplied per manufacturer installation guidelines. They first classified it under Ordinance or Law (ORD) coverage.
Later, they changed their stance, saying it wasn’t ORD, but still wouldn’t move it under Dwelling Coverage. They paid $5k but refused to pay the remaining $8,606 for full replacement.
Key points:
• Manufacturer guidelines require panels to be clean and debris-free before rolled roofing can be reinstalled — which wasn’t the case after removal.
• During demo, water intrusion was found. FBFS says they don’t cover “water seepage,” but there’s no proof it existed pre-storm.
• Multiple adjusters were involved. Insurance company hasn’t provided their “expert” who allegedly inspected the panels.
• Delays in their claim process (over 1.5 years) worsened the damage.
At this point, I’m debating whether to send a letter of intent (basically putting them on notice before litigation) to try and get the $8,606 paid, or just go straight to filing a lawsuit for breach of contract/bad faith.
The whole panels had to be replaced because rolled roofing couldn't be reinstalled and needing to get the roof back to pre storm condition. The water intrusion found 1.5 years later has nothing really to do with the initial insurance coverage in my opinion.
Has anyone dealt with this or a similar situation? Did sending a letter of intent work, or did you have to sue to get results? Will they say fine okay it'll cost us more if we do get sued even if we win and decide to pay the $8606 instead?
Next, even though they closed the claim, I'm filling another complaint with the states department of insurance.
home insurance company - Legal recourse against insurance company?
Location: South Texas
Hello! I recently purchased my first home here in a coastal city in the state of Texas. As all of us on the gulf coast know, I am required by my mortgage lender to carry a windstorm policy for protection during hurricane season. This policy was set up by my home insurance company, and therein lies my issue. The home insurance company filed incorrect paperwork which inaccurately qualified my home for windstorm coverage and additionally inaccurately qualified my home for the mortgage company to lend to me. Can I (or the mortgage lender) file suit against the insurance company for this error?
Edit: apologies for leaving out important context. The Texas windstorm agency has informed me that my policy will be discontinued in April if I do not provide the original paperwork for the property from 1988. (The paperwork was not completed in 88 despite insurance claiming it was) And if I cannot provide the paperwork I will be charged a 15% addendum to the premium in order to maintain my coverage.
