Fetch - I want to cancel the insurance
I want to cancel the insurance, which i had to sign up for when adopting a pet and there is no way to do it, not even a how to in the help section nor a phone number or email to contact in any easy place to find.
Pets Best - Put Your Money in a Savings Account Instead
I have had my dog insured through Pets Best for approximately 7 years. In the first few years my claims were reviewed promptly and reimbursed partially. While I wasn’t thrilled with only partial reimbursement, it made sense with deductibles and let’s be honest, our dogs run into problems on their own timelines that never match our convenient ones. Now that I have a senior dog, my claims have taken almost two months to be reviewed and subsequently denied. Pets Best has had to “request medical records” from my vets office and stated they were never sent. Asked me to inquire, which I did just for Pets Best to say they never received them. This led to my claims being denied.
My senior dog cracked a tooth on a bone (this is what the vet told me) which led to a tooth infection. I treated the infection first, then took her to a different vet (this office didn’t do extractions) to have it looked at. This vet said it had to go, or risk another infection. I asked that they clean her teeth while they had her under for the extraction. I had been doing non anesthetic cleanings because I didn’t want my senior dog put under.
I submit my claim and almost two months later have my first expensive claim completely denied stating that it was periodontal disease which is not covered because I did not have her teeth cleaned under anesthesia in the last 13 months.
If they would have attempted to contact me or my vet at any point during this review, it could’ve easily been explained. This company is looking for a reason to deny your claims.
To add insult to injury, immediately after denying my claim, I got a letter stating they are increasing my monthly premium to $200 due to my pets age and just general use of modern medicine to treat dogs being on the rise.
Don’t give this company free money. Put it in a savings account. I was told I could dispute the claim denial. I’m SURE I will be able to have an unbiased review of that claim after my policy cancellation….hah.
Figo - Scam Artists
I have had Figo coverage on my dog since he was an 8-mo-old puppy, so anyone out there who thinks their claims won't be denied because they enrolled in puppyhood had better think twice. In August of last year, my dog suddenly displayed balance issues and a head tilt. I took him to the vet who swabbed his ears and looked in them and found nothing but prescribed ear drops due to symptoms, to see if it would clear. The head tilt did not resolve, and after trying several rounds of medications (drops, oral antibiotics, month-long ear packs) without resolution, vet recommended we go to a neurologist or dermatologist to investigate further.
I never submitted any of the bills from my regular vet to them, but it became a lot to handle when visiting the dermatologist, which began in February of this year. Figo denied the consult claim, saying it was pre-existing. This was the first time in this dog's life he has ever had any ear issues or head tilt. I called and they said, "He had an ear infection in August 2024." (not a diagnosed ear infection but treated as one due to symptoms) I explained that we are still trying to treat the issue that first developed in August 2024 because nothing has resolved the head tilt. To this, she responded, "He had an allergy shot in July 2023." WTF??? This is not an allergy related issue we are having! She then said something about a waiting period of 14 days for illness, which has nothing to do with anything. This policy is almost 2 years old. Any waiting period is long over. I mean to say these people are plain CROOKS. She was just throwing out one bogus reason after another for them not to pay the claim.
I sent an appeal, to which they have yet to respond, and submitted claims for the CT scan and the video otoscopy that were done on my dog's ears. Both were denied with reason of pre-existing condition. Here's where it gets very interesting. During the video otoscopy, a culture was taken from each ear, separately, and neither grew ANYTHING. The dermatologist wrote in her note that the issue is completely anatomical and is not infection related, and thus not allergy related either (though if it was, any waiting period was long over). They have these notes as they were submitted with the claims. What we have here is a den full of liars and thieves. I will be reporting them to the DCI and AG of my state and to the NAIC. Stay away from Figo. They will take your money month after month and deny any claim you submit.
Nationwide - Dropped with 20 days notice after 5 years
After five years of being a loyal customer I was one of the one millions suddenly dropped for having a five year-old dog. My costs sky rocketed 74% and then I was dropped with less than a month's notice. AVOID THIS COMPANY!
Prudent Pet - Doesn’t cover any claims for 6 months
Doesn’t cover any claims for 6 months
Spot - Still waiting on my refund.
Still waiting on my refund.
Embrace - Never again!
This was the most ridiculous, unnecessary, drawn out claim process I have ever had. And the amount of the claim was nominal for vet visits now. Neither I or the vet could understand why and how the info Embrace asked for was in any way relevant. Needless to say this was the first and last time I will insure a dog with Embrace. When my contract ends in June, that's it.
Nationwide - 7 year old healthy boy kitty
I’ve been a customer for over a year and a half, and my 7-year-old cat has had no health issues during this time. However, I was disappointed to learn that the insurance premium for my cat is now higher than for my new cat. I expected more consistent pricing, especially given my pet’s clean health record. I’d appreciate a lower pricing structure and hope for a fairer approach in the future.
Pets Best - Terrible company!
Thy don't reimburse according to their policy and when they send you a check, you have no idea how they got the measly amount they came up with. There is no explanation and the person answering the phone has no knowledge about any aspect of a policy and cannot answer any questions. I don't want this to happen to anyone else.
ASPCA - let them know what actually they are buying. I didn't know I was not purchasing didn't have full coverage
should have told me about the different packages you offer
