Pets Best - Worst insurance ever
You can’t get anything preapproved. My dog had an accident in the fires. He had a really bad limp. We have had insurance 3 months now. They denied my dogs X-rays bc it was a ccl. How were we suppose to know. So basically they told me i had to wait 6 months. I get for the surgery but they should have covered the x ray. They said they wouldn’t cover it bc it was related to a ccl. Worst insurance ever
Embrace - Nothing was covered
I don’t know what the point is of paying 40+ dollars a month for insurance when they deny all claims. I canceled. Too frustrating. What is the point?
Pets Best - Online Application was Bait & Switch…
I submitted my information online Pets Best online platform to get a quote and subsequently a policy for ACCIDENT ONLY insurance for my two dogs. I was quoted $9 per dog per month with a small discount for multiple pets. I noticed a charge on my credit card bill for over $450 from Pets Best only to find they switched me to an “Accident AND Illness Policy without my approval OR knowledge!!! I didn’t find this out until the second renewal!! They operate a bait & switch tactic on their platform!!
Trupanion - STAY AWAY FROM TRUPANION
STAY AWAY FROM TRUPANION! I have two policies. They just raised my monthly premium $48 for the older dog and $42 on the puppy. The older dog had just minor issues (thyroid pills) and the young dog has been in perfect health. I mean, I've only had that policy for a little over a year. They lure you in with reasonable rates then zap you once your in. There's got to be a better insurance company out there. I'm researching and will be leaving Trupanion.
Nationwide - Very disappointing
Very disappointing. This is the first time I've checked into pet insurance. I knew that my parrot's pre-existing condition would not be covered, but I was disappointed when Nationwide told me they would not cover any of his medical expenses.

Nationwide - Nationwide Doubled my Cost and Kept Charging My Card without my Authorization
Nationwide Pet Insurance doubled the cost of my pet insurance from $90 per month to an astounding $183 per month and continued to charge my credit card on file, which I had only authorized only for $90 per month. A courtesy phone call would have been appreciated, especially when the cost increase is more than 50%. I called them and spoke to a manager. Unfortunately, no refund was offered. I was not even permitted to reduce my coverage to an affordable amount going forward, as they have a set renewal period for plan changes that has now passed. This latter issue is just a bad business practice, which will lose Nationwide customers and money. The executive who made this decision should reconsider their strategy, here is why: since I can't adjust my plan to match the $35 per month I pay for another pet, I've decided to cancel all my services. That's a loss of $35 per month for Nationwide starting today, and they will lose an additional $35 per month when I transfer my other pet, summing up to $70 per month. Nationwide will now have to invest in advertising to attract a new customer to replace me.
It's disappointing that the company took advantage of my trust by charging my credit card excessively and compounded the issue by not allowing me as the customer to switch to more affordable plan. In the end, the company is losing revenue due to these policies, I can find insurance elsewhere.

Embrace - This "loyal member of their pack" was shafted
As a "loyal member of their pack," (their words, not mine) Embrace sent me my policy renewal with a 46% year over year increase in the premiums. We have made no claims. This is criminal. Over $1100/year for the bare minimum coverage. It is now more cost effective to put that money aside for the possibility of a bill. Sending anymore money to Embrace is akin to lighting my money on fire.
