Trupanion - I have a two year old Ragdoll cat
I have a two year old Ragdoll cat. I got Trupanion insurance for her when she was three months old thinking it was very good. At her six month physical she was diagnosed with gingivitis and would need a $1500 cleaning. I thought no problem, I have pet insurance so it will be covered since dental problems are covered. To my surprise cleanings aren’t covered even for medical reasons. I had to pay for the cleaning out-of-pocket and now since this is a pre-existing condition if I switch insurance companies no dental procedures will be covered. When I had originally called to get information on Trupanion, they said they covered dental extraction and dental problems. Foolishly, I didn’t ask if dental cleanings were covered for medical reasons. I have a 12 year-old cat who I got pet insurance for through FIGO at 11 years old. His premium is $35 a month. The medical insurance I have through Trupanion started out at $25 a month went to $28 a month and now it’s $35 a month for a 2 1/2 year-old cat with no problems other than gingivitis. I am so disappointed in Trupanion. Buyer beware.
ASPCA - NOW I UNDERSTAND THE 1 STAR REVIEWS.
I was told that an invoice I sent for preventative care would take two to four weeks to process...for yearly checkup and shots. They have no problem debiting my credit card on time each month. I got this insurance in July and this is my first claim. DO BETTER.
Fetch - TERRIBLE COMPANY. This company is incompetent.
TERRIBLE COMPANY. This company is incompetent.
They won't approve anything and are terrible. Your denied claims DO NOT go towards your deductible. Something I wish they would have disclosed in the policy when signing up. My pet had a cough due to something completely different than what he is dealing with now, and they won't approve his claims of over $1500 because they think it's pre-existing. I even had my Vet write a letter claiming it was not pre-existing. Still won't approve. I then used their Rx platform to order my dogs antibiotics, I paid for next day shipping. Well it's been 6 days and my pets meds are still not here. When I asked about it, they said someone used a USPS label instead of the FedEx label they were supposed to use that I paid for. The rep said that it would be delivered today, but now it's saying tomorrow. What the heck. I HATE THIS COMPANY. I have never used such a sad excuse for a pet insurance company till Fetch. My pet is battling pneumonia and a collapsed lung and has been without his antibiotics for an ENTIRE WEEK. While the reps are competent and accommodating, the company they work for is such a scam. I am spreading this far and wide and plan to take this to social media to spread the word even further not to use this company.
ASPCA - I haven’t had a ton of experience with…
I haven’t had a ton of experience with this company. I came over from a previous company that I loved but unfortunately could no longer get in my state.
Now a few years later an only 1 claim filed for $300 I am not seeing the benefit for staying with ASPCA. The time it took to process the claim was almost a month. If I had to shell out thousands of dollars on a claim I don’t want to wait 4 weeks for a claim to process to get my money back.
If you decide you want to add wellness to your policy you have to wait until your next policy renewal period. You have a very short window to make changes to it.
Now I have had multiple insurances over the years for different pets of all ages and breeds. Since I have started this policy (2/1/2021) it has increased yearly anywhere from $25 to $50 a month. I had one $50 claim, and have two dogs on my policy (4 and 3). There is no reason for the policy to increase this much. I have asked other people in my area if there policies had similar rate hikes but they did not.
I think it might be time to search for a different insurance company.
I've been largely happy with Embrace from a service level. In this particular instance I found myself extremely frustrated. This is regardless of whatever decisions they make regarding my claim. I tried to do everything through the app.
The app tried to force me to upload a photo rather than the much easier pdf I received from my vet. By the time I printed the PDF so that I could take a photo, the app constantly and repeatedly crashed. I ultimately completed the claim submission via the website (using the actual PDF from my vet,) but found the submission process very frustrating.
Fetch - Terrible Insurance
Terrible insurance carrier.
Trupanion Canada - Save your money
Happily paid for 9.75 years never needing to make a claim but wanted to ensure in an emergency I did not have to worry. I paid $73-$105 a month over his life, it increases yearly even if you don't make a claim! Then when it came down to an end of life emergency, they paid out $89 (my deductible was only $200). Roughly $10,000 paid over his life time and they paid me $89.
Let me preface by saying that when I signed up they told me the cost of burial/cremation is covered which is why I went with them... ITS NOT! Put your money into savings, don't waste it on them, they wont even considering helping when you have to make the worst decision of your life.
Healthy Paws - Beware
Beware! I paid then cancelled in a lotted time (like immediately) and requested stop payment but they went a head and took 2 months out. Called them and nothing was resolved.
Trupanion Canada - Biggest waste of money
After paying $75-$105 monthly for my dog since I brought him home almost 10 years ago and NEVER needing to make a claim until his very last day I am so disappointed in what a waste this was. I was happy to pay as I didn’t want to worry about finances in an emergency and wanted to ensure I could help my dog. Well, with never missing a payment and only having a $200 deductible, Trupanion paid out $89 in my dogs end of life emergency. Oh, and they don’t cover the cost of cremation/burial, which I was told they did when I signed up!
You’re better off putting your money into savings and holding it for a raining day as I feel like I threw it away!
Pets Best - This is a hustle, get another insurance company
Basically lots of double talk and bs. Too many hoops to jump through when its time for them to help, except when they take your money.
