Healthy Paws - Are there any good pet insurance companies left?
Been with Healthy Paws for quite some time. They were great during the life of my senior dog that recently passed away. I have another senior dog whose rate just increased by an insane amount and have been debating whether or not I should keep paying it or just cancel and set that money aside. She does have pre existing conditions so unfortunately getting her on a different plan seems pointless.
I have a 8 year old cat with no pre existing conditions and a 10 month old dog. I would like to have them on pet insurance but I feel like every company I research there are some good reviews and then horrible reviews. Is pet insurance even worth it anymore? Does anyone have any good companies they would recommend? Thanks.
Bank of America - Bank of America small business card utter nightmare!
Fraudulent charges trying to get them resolved since October. Last month I finally got them resolved and they sent me a letter about the claim. Closed the account, 0 balance. Today they took back a credit for 78.20 and now the account shows a balance even though it is closed I cannot pay it! Already brought in CFPB!
Prudential Life Insurance - I need to vent (prudential life insurance)
My stepdad passed away mid march, he told me years ago if anything ever happened to him that he had life insurance. The past week ive been trying to figure out his policy number to get more information regarding all of this. I still don’t know his policy # but now have a claim number and they have emailed a document that I need to sign. In order to access those documents I need a “code” which is the date of birth/date of death, unfortunately the first agent got the date of death wrong so I got locked out, they had to resend it again. Today I finally receive the email again, I STILL cannot access it because they keep putting in the wrong date.
Medi-Cal - Medi-cal kept on renewing my family even I submit my income
We have been on medi-cal since 2020. Husband and I both lost our job. When we started working, we reported our income. We had a child and our income still within theamount that qualifies.
2022, I reported my income. And they still renew.
2023, I did not work, we qualified.
2024, I got a new job July, I called and they said my medi-cal will be cancelled by August. I enrolled in my job's medical insurance.
Fast forward 2025, got a letter we qualified. I kept in my record that I always submit proof of income. What should I do?
Brighthouse Financial - Challenges in the hardship surrender an inherited life insurance annuity from Brighthouse Financial
Location: New York
I am trying to navigate the ongoing challenges in the hardship surrender of a life insurance annuity (qualified) I inherited from my father when he passed in NOV 2013. He was 82 years old when he passed and was already taking disbursements (Metlife at that time).
In early 2014, I truly thought that I had requested a full pay-out on the life insurance; however, Metlife then informed me that I had already annuitized the policy (?), and it was documented on my 2014 annual FMV notice from Metlife that there was "no servicing agent on record". At that time, I did not get too upset about the mix-up because my family was doing fine financially, then. However, I am now 61 and my wife is 62; and now our financial situation has turned dire, as last year we already liquidated the other inherited life insurance annuity from Security Benefit which was super easy and paid-out within days. The reason for this eminent need is that my wife lost her job in March 2024 and she has been unsuccessful in finding a new role in this unsure job market (>500 job applications), and her NY unemployment insurance was exhausted long ago. We also have three sons, with two currently being in college in which one of them has autism in which I have dedicated my life, acting as his personal attendant of sorts to assist his K-12 education. His disability application for SSDI is still in the appeal process with the SSA, so we have paid for his first year of community college, with a great deal of assistance from me.
Unfortunately, after several documented/recorded calls with Brighthouse, they have failed to provide me with a copy of my original contract, or the ability to even open an on-line account. Whenever I call them, I am not even treated as a real Brighthouse customer as my annuity contract is immortalized allowing me no visibility of my account, and I am informed that I will not be able to withdrawal the money until age 73. After 11 years, the annuity is only worth \~$28,000 (started out at $37,000 in 2013). It's not a lot of money to most people, but it could save my family at this point! I would be so grateful if the legal expert in this community could help me navigate down the correct paths to possibly resolve this solution as we really can't afford a financial planner or attorney at this time. I'm not even sure that I'm using the correct surrender request form (EF-70N-DXC 10/23) because I never get a response from Brighthouse, and I am very gracious in my communications with them.
Pets Best - Anyone actually had a good experience with dog insurance?
I’ve had Pets Best for about a year now for my mixed breed pup (healthy overall, just minor stuff like an ear infection and some stomach issues). I’m paying around $60/month, and every claim I’ve submitted either got denied or barely paid anything. They called one thing a pre-existing condition when it wasn’t even diagnosed until after I signed up.
Starting to feel like I’m wasting my money and might be better off just saving that monthly premium myself.
Has anyone here actually had a dog insurance plan that helped when you needed it? Open to switching if there’s a better option but I’m kinda losing hope tbh.
Firestone - I need to sue Firestone...the corporation?
Long story short. I brought my car into a NJ location while on business (I'm from Maryland) to get a pair of front driveshafts put into a 2013 Mercedes Benz GLK 250 and they didn't remove one simple little circlip that held one of them into the oil pan underneath the motor. (it's AWD). They proceeded to beat the ever living daylights out of the drivers side front driveshaft to the point that it broke the shoulder that held that circlip, and therefore the driveshaft, into the oil pan. I had to tow the car six hours home and had to have the drivetrain completely removed from the car so that the oil pan could be replaced. It was professionally done and I have all of the old parts to prove my point. The car is now fixed and, at minimum, I am out $7k. Firestone, the corporation is based out of Nashville, TN. How should I go about finding a lawyer that is based there? Or does it matter? As a matter of principle I am not letting this go.
Pets Best - Thoughts on increasing deductibles
Hey everyone, I got my renewal for petsbest for one dog.
i'm kinda anxiously waiting appeals for my other dog (unspecified dates in medical records lead to them assuming prexisting conditions unfortunately about some anxiety) and over 11k in other claims (she got a GDV and pancreatitis) that i'm now terrified they will deny somehow. trynna work that out, hoping for the best but anxious af. TLDR the notes were vague about doses I tried and didnt say when i tried them, so insurance assumed before the waiting period bc I used traz/gaba from my other anxious dog at first bc I didn't wanna waste drugs (dumb on my part, but both dogs are on the same insurance so they def know which drugs i've got lol)
My renewal for my dog number one went up from $725.49 to $1,032.08 come January 2025. it's egregious IMO. However, my dog has various medical conditions (sep anxiety, IVDD, hip dysplasia, urinary incontience, allergies) so no shot at switching insurances and it makes zero sense IMO. They've paid out 4.2k in medical expenses for him this year! I'm considering maybe increasing the deductible- how did y'all go about deciding if you should or shouldn't do this.
All the above prices were for 90% 250, 90% with 500 **$736.20/yr**, 700 with $621.05/yr, 1000 with $448.44/yr. I'm so conflicted. I know he's gonna easily reach 2k in rehab, apoquel, immunotherapy, anxiety meds thru the year. Anyone have any advice?
UnitedHealthcare - Doctor wants payment up front—Insurance says not to
I have UHC and while taking care of some things on the phone with a representative I asked a question out of curiosity which was just my confusion that sometimes when I get my botox for migraines my provider has me pay nothing and I get the bill later, other times I just have to make "a" payment and then get the bill later. When I say get the bill later in both cases I mean after the claim has gone through insurance I then get the billed amount I owe, and the portal for UHC updates with my EOB (I use the EOB to apply for a savings program to be reimbursed by a third party). My most recent appointment however they made me pay the full amount of botox up front otherwise they refused to treat me. I am disabled without this treatment so I just found a card with enough money on it and gave it to them. The insurance representative told me they aren't to make me pay more than a voluntary small amount of my choice if I want to, and that they aren't supposed to deny me my treatment that they approved. She told me to not pay next time and if they push back to call United and get a representative on the phone. My mother used to work medical scheduling however and she insists they can make me pay whatever amount they want and reimburse me later. I am thinking my mom might be more right but just want to hear it straight. For the record I am in the (slow) process of changing migraine treatment providers for a number of reasons related to poor communication or miscommunication.
AAA - Cancelled my AAA car insurance
I had to get a new car unexpectedly in April. My AAA car insurance period was Feb-Aug. Called them on April 7 to let them know I got a new car and the premium was crazy, but you can't drive without insurance so I kept it. Shopped around and got a new policy for much cheaper starting May 1. Called and cancelled AAA and the agent said I might get billed a cancellation fee. NBD I thought. Nope. My pro-rated term premium was $840. My payment due after cancelling was $310! The math ain't mathing. $840 for coverage from April to August comes out to $168/ month. I wasn't even covered by the new rate for a full month. I've already called and the agent just said its a combination of things like the short rate and cancellation fee, but she can't give me an itemized breakdown of charges. Anyone got any advice? Is there a way to get out of paying this or at least getting them to come down?
