They claim they don't penalize you for claims; but you will be coverage reductions and multiple fold price increases if you want to keep the policy.
Since you have one shot on pet insurance to avoid pre-existing clauses, this is not a company that you want to keep if you have to actually use the insurance.
Fetch - The absolute worse ever
The absolute worse ever! They are incapable of making a proper reimbursement. Almost 2 years & i have yet to get my funds reimbursed. They deposited my money in someone else’s account. I was in the process of moving & their policy is to mail checks. I never received any checks. Now they insist they cannot deposit my funds in my account, must be a check. I highly suggest you find another insurance company. There are so many now i am having trouble determining which to go with. Good luck.
Embrace - Deceptive billing practices
Been with you for several years, and been very happy, until now. I never received a renewal email notice this year, nor did I receive notice the day before I was billed. Seems convenient, seeing as my premium had a 200% increase. And because I didn't notice it until the day I was billed, and you were closed , I had to wait until the next day to cancel. And then I was charged 15 dollars for those 2 days. You don't allow cancelation through the website. So, you should have 24 hour coverage, so when someone gets blind sided, they can take action immediately. I feel it is deceptive billing practices, and that is how I am going to address it to the BBB. I have had the same email address since joining, and it wasn't in my junk mail. I am sure I am not the only one who has been surprised.
Trupanion - My rate went from $90 to $220 in a…
My rate went from $90 to $220 in a couple of years. That's almost as much as I pay for my own health insurance and they have yet to cover any of my claims including a very expensive hip surgery. It's such a rip off, spca and nationwide have much better customer service and rates. I mean honestly at this point I could've put the money I've spent on trupanion away each month and paid off the surgery and other services and still had money left over. What's the point of insurance when this becomes the case?

Fetch - Poor cutomer service
Poor cutomer service. I have been waiting over 30 days for a pre-approval before dental work under their "every tooth covered" policy. In trying to get an update I only receive automated or scripted replies with no real information.
They cover my pet's medication no problem but even if they end up covering her dental I cannot recommend them based on the support I have received relating to the claim.
Embrace - Invoice requirement is confusing
This insurance really is a great help for the most part. It takes the stress of dealing with having to take your pet in for an emergency or an urgent need. The coverage is what you need it to be because you can choose the plan that fits your pet. However, it gets hard to send claims in. The requirement of an itemized bills is basically what the provider gives and yet it is not enough to get reimbursement. I basically sent everything that was provided to me by the vet clinic and even the clinic does not know what else is needed. The good thing about this insurance is they DO respond very quickly and they reimburse quickly as well. It is not a question if this is a good insurance because it is. The process and requirement is quite confusing.
MetLife - Worst insurance.. run!!
When i asked why they would not cover my $800 invoice from my vet for my dog who was diagnosed with pancreatitis they told me my dog had a pre-existing condition when he did not. I asked why they said that and they said because i told the vet he was sick the with the sicknees the night before. What the ?? Also it took them over a month to determine this bull
Trupanion - Rude unprofessional trashy customer service.
Rude, smug, smarmy customer service. Really rotten employees.
I’m looking for another pet insurance company and am going to read my Vet the riot act for promoting this unprofessional trashy company to me.
Do NOT trust Trupanion and if your Vet recommends them then do NOT trust your Vet.
Find a new Vet because they have no integrity if they recommend Trupanion.
With employees like Shantell, I wouldn’t trust these people to walk my dog let alone provide insurance they will weasel out of paying if at all possible.
Really a horrible scummy company all around.
