Have an issue with your insurance?
Let everyone know!
Insurance companies are constantly reviewing us. Are we too old? Do we live in the wrong place? Is our credit score high enough? Well, now it's time to turn the tables. Do you charge too much? Will you pay my claim quickly? Is your coverage worse than it seems? We can review you too.

Nationwide - Pet insurance
So…I’ve had Nationwide for my Yorkie since I got him. For five years. They paid 90% which I think is exceptional. In fact, they’ve stopped that practice! He’s had pancreatitis twice, allergies and other expensive issues. Today I received a notice I was being cancelled. I feared it as the bills have been very high. My question is…Now What?? What recommendations do you have? Will a new company accept pre existing conditions? Who pays out the best and the fastest? I appreciate all thoughts! TIA
Embrace Pet Insurance - Embrace pet insurance
Going through Reddit before I got my Italian greyhound puppy, I came to the conclusion that dog insurance was a NECESSITY with this breed. I did a lot of comparing companies as well as reading reviews of each company with different scenarios and decided on embrace.
I currently pay ~$70/month and it’s been so worth it for me!
Deductible of $250/year with 90% reimbursement afterwards.
Well my Finn boy fractured his leg and we were devastated and overwhelmed by the guilt/fear/etc. We went straight to the ER and found out he needed surgery to have it repaired. (~$6,000). By reading the contracts and stipulations of the insurance agreement I knew it would be covered and there was no way we could have afforded it without insurance.
It did take a lot of hassle on my end. I had to call them several times to get my claim moving. I had to submit all of his documents (several different times). After calling a 4th time and them claiming they did not get the documents I ended up emailing the records to them as well. My claims were then put on “hold” due to insufficient documentation. I was at my wits end trying to come up with anything else they could possibly need. I called again explaining absolutely everything and the worker put notes into the file and sent it back to the adjusters. FINALLY a couple of days later (1 month total of waiting) I finally got reimbursed 🥳.
It was such a shit show but I was so relieved that it covered basically everything. My only complaint is that if you don’t pester them they don’t get anything done. The workers told me that the first claim always takes the longest to process and the next ones should only take a week or less. I hope that’s the case- hahah!
Pets Best - Annual premium increase
I have a Pets Best insurance policy on all three of my cats, and on one cat who has passed. I have had good experiences with the company who has saved me thousands in bills (across four pets). I have been a pets best customer for over 6 years.
I just got an email saying that one of my cats premiums will increase from $225 to $378 dollars a year. The only reason they give is that he's a year older (now four years old).
I am wondering if anyone has experienced a similar jarring increase. Will it be the same for my other two cats? Does pets best negotiate premiums? Is there a cap or should I expect this annually?
I know there are issues with getting coverage for preexisting conditions so changing providers for this car isn't an option, but I could explore different coverage for my other pets.
Please advise. Thanks!
Lemonade - Dog insurance spot or pets best?
I have a 2yrs old terrier mix and got his insurance through Lemonade when I first adopted him 10 months ago. He was nervous when I took him to the vet for the first time before I got his insurance, so the vet recommended Trazodone, but I declined because he was okay at home. He started developing anxiety around noises, people, and other dogs 1-2 months after I got Lemonade, and I filed a claim after seeing the vet. They denied the claim, so I appealed by having the vet send them an email saying that his social anxiety is a new condition that had developed recently. They did not take that and denied the appeal, saying it was a pre-existing condition. He has to be on multiple meds and needs behavioral training, and I’m very frustrated. I know that other insurance companies won’t cover any cost for his anxiety at this point if I get a different insurance. Still, I don’t want anything like this happening in the future(I read that similar things happened to some other pet owners who use Lemonade), so I’ve been looking into different insurance policies. I’ve read some good stuff about Pets Best and Spot, and I’m trying to decide between them. Does anyone have recommendations? Experiences with those companies? Any opinions are appreciated!
Spot Pet Insurance - Spot Pet Insurance
Please don't fall for them . They are a scam . Besides internist personally writing to them that my cats who (needed biopsy )condition was not pre-existing sending 2 years of medical records calling emailing speaking with several people who barely know what their doing they denied my claim. Don't fall for their lying sales people . I report them to BBB I hope more people will ,Spot can't keep scamming people.
Fetch - Looking to drop Fetch after price hikes -- advice for 9 y/o terrier mix?
Hey everyone!
Fetch just sent us our plan renewal and it's quite a bit higher this year. I'm looking to switch while my dog still is quite healthy. She's a 9 year old scrappy terrier mix, and has one pre-existing condition of a femoral head removal before I got her (which was pre-existing for her current policy as well).
She's also broken several teeth over the course of several years, which was covered with Fetch, but I'm worried it might not be with other companies (even though those were accidents and not conditions).
Is it worth it to switch at this point? I'm seeing some decent slightly lower quotes at Lemonade, Pets Best, and Embrace. But basically every company out there has a post on here bemoaning said company as a "scam." I'm looking for accident and injury coverage with a high max payout of $15,000 or more, deductible of $250-500, and no add ons.
Embrace Pet Insurance - Embrace Pet Insurance Premium Increased by 84%
Hi,
Curious if anyone else has had this issue. From what I’ve read online, it seems to be a general theme with pet insurance and I don’t think I have any rights or avenues to pursue to do anything about it.
I have had Embrace pet insurance to cover my 3 pets since December of 2020. My insurance premiums renewals for my pets, that I still have the records for have been:
Dec. 2022: $112.90
Dec. 2023: $133.49
Dec. 2024: $245.76
My pets are obviously getting older from when I initially took the policy. Current ages:
Cat (6)
Cat (10)
Dog (8)
Their rationale for increasing my premium is cost of vet bills increasing, my “tenure” (I’ve had embrace 5 years therefore my pets have likely developed ‘pre existing conditions’ that would not be covered if I was a new policy holder which means more money they have to pay to now cover these conditions), and the pets age.
I understand things increase year over year, I’m hung up on the fact that my rate has almost doubled in a single year. I was going to file a complaint with the state insurance commissioner, but it doesn’t seem that they are technically violating any laws.
I feel like I can’t switch companies because my pets have “pre existing conditions” that won’t be covered at a new place but at $300/ month I might as well save my money and pay the vet bills out of pocket.
I found online that Embrace was sold to JAB Holding company for $1.5 billion dollars in 2023. So I don’t think my premiums are going up so Embrace can keep the lights on.
If you have any advice, I am all ears. If you don’t have advice, take this as a recommendation to avoid Embrace pet insurance at absolutely all costs.
Embrace Pet Insurance - Best way to appeal a decision?
I got a new puppy (7 weeks old). Got embrace pet insurance that same day. Took her in for her first vet appointment as a good pet owner should about a week later. Obviously this was still during the illness waiting period. But it appeared I had a nice healthy puppy.
Turns out she has a heart murmur. First vet graded it as a grade 4 and told me to see a cardiologist. I went and got a second opinion and they graded it as a grade 3 and we are going to watch it and see if it goes away in the next couple months.
Anyway, embrace pulled the SOAP notes from the 2 vets and are saying it's not covered as it's a preexisting condition. I plan on appealing it, even going to the California insurance board or whatever it's called if I have to because it seems like that is such BS. I'm being punished for taking my pup to the vet too soon.
My question is, what is the best way to word the appeal to the embrace adjuster? It's not right that an 8 week old puppy getting it's very first exam should get that classified as a preexisting condition.
Pets Best - Thoughts on increasing deductibles
Hey everyone, I got my renewal for petsbest for one dog.
i'm kinda anxiously waiting appeals for my other dog (unspecified dates in medical records lead to them assuming prexisting conditions unfortunately about some anxiety) and over 11k in other claims (she got a GDV and pancreatitis) that i'm now terrified they will deny somehow. trynna work that out, hoping for the best but anxious af. TLDR the notes were vague about doses I tried and didnt say when i tried them, so insurance assumed before the waiting period bc I used traz/gaba from my other anxious dog at first bc I didn't wanna waste drugs (dumb on my part, but both dogs are on the same insurance so they def know which drugs i've got lol)
My renewal for my dog number one went up from $725.49 to $1,032.08 come January 2025. it's egregious IMO. However, my dog has various medical conditions (sep anxiety, IVDD, hip dysplasia, urinary incontience, allergies) so no shot at switching insurances and it makes zero sense IMO. They've paid out 4.2k in medical expenses for him this year! I'm considering maybe increasing the deductible- how did y'all go about deciding if you should or shouldn't do this.
All the above prices were for 90% 250, 90% with 500 **$736.20/yr**, 700 with $621.05/yr, 1000 with $448.44/yr. I'm so conflicted. I know he's gonna easily reach 2k in rehab, apoquel, immunotherapy, anxiety meds thru the year. Anyone have any advice?
MetLife Insurance - MetLife Insurance- Address Change Question
Hi! I’ll get right into it-
I adopted my dog in 2021 at age 3 and got her pet insurance immediately at around $20 per month initially. The price has gone up as she aged and is around $55 per month now (she is 6 almost 7). I moved in the last few months ~10 miles away from my old apartment but still go to my same vet and have not had any significant changes otherwise. I called the pet insurance to change my address and they quoted me $139 for the same coverage I have just because I moved. Since I have been with the pet insurance a while, I feel like they just redid my quote as though I was a new customer and that’s why it’s so expensive.
For nearly triple the price I’m not willing to keep the insurance but wondering if I have any rights here or this could be escalated further? I really like my pet insurance but feel that this is outrageous especially since I have not moved that far and still go to the same vet so I don’t see how it would make that much of a difference to them.
More details- I have MetLife pet insurance. I live in Saint Petersburg, FL (moved from downtown to north st Pete and my zip code changed). I also moved from an apartment to a townhouse.
Thanks in advance!
Edit to add: no preexisting conditions except allergies (she gets a shot every 3-4 months) and nothing new that would have contributed to the price change.
