Pet Plan - Insurance help for a jack Russel with an elderly owner.
Hey everybody, I hope it's alright to post as I'm from the UK but we are in the south west and my elderly grandmother (I think she is around 87 but she hates telling us her age)
Has been being charged 85 pound a month according to her bank statements by pet plan. He is an elderly jack Russel now but she would have got him insured a lot younger but I'm not sure of his age exactly.
He has no pre-existing medical conditions and my grandmother is not very good at managing online but she wants her independence. Can anybody recommend a pet insurance company in the UK that is easy to use/acsess the details of?
TLDR: What is a good easy interface/acsess pet insurance company for a senior jack Russel?
Homeowners Insurance - Home Owners Insurance & Plumbing/Mold
Should I file a claim on a plumbing/mold issue in home?
Long story short- the stack going to an upstairs bathroom needs to be replaced ($2,500).
Realized problem when we found water in basement. Mold remediation will be $3,000.
Tile wall will need to come out in bathroom to make repairs. No idea the cost of this cosmetic issue. It’s original 1959 tile, so probably a decent amount of money to take it all out and replace on entire bathroom.
Our deductible for homeowners insurance is $3,000. I’ve heard horror stories about insurance denying claims (especially due to plumbing/mold), and policy premium still going up.
Also trying to gauge exactly how much our policy goes up even if the claim is handled by home owners.
We have the cash to do the repairs. Is it worth it to make the claim and save the money? Or not in the long run?
Thanks
UnitedHealthcare - Can an insurance company refuse to allow me to file a claim?
Long story short, I recently got a grant for my son who has autism spectrum disorder and was able to find a provider who had social skills therapy for him. The grant will reimburse me costs 100% however they need a copy of the EOB. I found a provider who was out of network but was the only one offering this therapy in the time period I needed it. She was upfront saying that we would have to file our own claim which I have no problem with. She provided the superbill and all of the codes.
Well today I logged into UHC to try to submit a mental health claim and the form is not available, then I called them and they told me that I cannot submit my own claim. I told them that my provider does not file claims but they were insistent on saying that the doctor would have to file them. Is this a common practice? I am just frustrated.
State Farm - State Farm Master Condo Policy
Long story short, we have never had issues with people buying and selling in our 6 unit condo building in Chicago until today. We accepted an offer and the lender reached out stating we needed **replacement cost coverage** in order to move forward, this is due to Fannie and Freddie guidelines as of June 2024. We have never changed our master policy provider and our bylaws specifically state that we must have **replacement cost coverage.** I have looked over our policy and it does not state either Cash value or replacement, just the limit on coverage with a \*attached for the inflation rider. Agent we reached out to has been non-responsive.
Anyone else run into this?
Marpai Health - Your help is needed - Issue with plan benefits
In 2024, I received a call from rep at Innovative Partners LP (my first mistake) and the rep was so convincing that I gave my cc to receive healthcare benefits. I was sent an insurance card. Innovative Partners LP partnered with Marpai Health to handle invoices from medical visits. I had 3 medical office visits (1-primary, 2-dermatology and 3-LabCorp for routine blood panel). Of the 3 visits, only dermatology visit was paid.
LabCorp has sent my medical visit invoice to collections! I have been doing everything I can to get Marpai Health and Innovative Partners LP to pay their portion of this invoice. I don't know what else to do.
I reported both organizations to Better Business Bureau with NO results. I have written to both organizations and nothing. What else can I do to get this LabCorp bill paid by the healthcare coverage? I know I have to pay my portion and I will .... AFTER Innovative & Marpai pay their portion. I even sent my state representatives a letter about this issue and nothing.
Since August 2024, Marpai canceled their relationship with Innovative but while I was covered, there was an ongoing relationship. That they terminated their contract with Innovative is not my problem. While I was covered (from Feb to Aug 2024), they were in contractual agreement.
I don't want this invoice in collections, I don't want this hanging over me. I want Innovative & Marpai to honor their paid plan benefits / coverage to me. What suggestions do you have that worked for you?
Thank you!
UHC - CPT Code J8499–What Is It?
I posted a couple of weeks ago about an ongoing claim between the hospital where I had ACDF surgery at on November 1st and my health insurance, UHC. The latest development is that UHC has sent yet another claim letter to the hospital , asking for specifics on an unidentifiable CPT code. Based on a prior claim letter, I suspect its CPT code J8499 which was sent to UHC to the tune of almost $14,000 out of a nearly $30K claim. I had read that this code is used for oral drugs but I can’t imagine what they would have given me that would have cost that much. The claim is on hold for 90 days yet again, but I’m getting spooked just like I did a couple of weeks ago. I mean, this claim has just dragged and dragged because UHC has to keep asking the hospital for information and I just don’t get what’s so hard in terms of the hospital giving them what they need.
Anyone familiar with the code and its use?
Hertz - Hertz Rental Car overcharged me, then sent the disputed amount to collections. Help please!
Tl;Dr: Hertz overcharged me when renting a car. After customer service could not help, I opened a dispute, but on the wrong charge as I'm dumb. The dispute was closed and money returned to Hertz. Now they have sent multiple invoices requesting payment for this charge, and as of March 5 it has been sent to collections.
Hey!
So back in August 2024 I rented a car with some friends, to be picked up in San Francisco and returned to Las Vegas. We booked online and chose the extra insurance and have a layout of all charges in the initial email. We paid $350 CAD when booking. When picking up the car, we also added a secondary driver. The remaining $1680 was to be billed to the card already on file.
When the email came through after picking up the car, I saw it was about $230 CAD above what I expected, but I assumed this was a damage deposit or something of the like. When we returned the car however, the final invoice was still about $230 above what I expected based on the initial booking invoice, plus the additional driver. This is also taking into account the charge for dropping off at a different location, the extra insurance, etc that was all listed in the initial email. Unfortunately, we dropped off the car late at night and flew home the next day, so there was no staff in the office to speak to.
Fast forward a couple weeks, the two charges were posted and still remained, collectively, about $230 above what I was quoted, including the extras we chose. So I called Hertz. Customer support couldn't see any issue, but also said there was no manager present to speak to. They put in a request with their financial team to contact me. I was never contacted. A couple days later, I called again, and met the same result. I should have been more aggressive and demanded to talk to someone who actually knew how to look an invoice, but I didn't. Again I got them to request an email from the financial team. This time I did get an email from them, to which I replied and explained the situation.. And never heard back.
At this point, I just opened a dispute with my credit card. Unfortunately, I still wasn't sure which exact payment was overcharged, so I opened the dispute on the initial booking fee of $350. This means that this amount is refunded back to me temporarily, pending the final results of the dispute. In hindsight, that was obviously not the way to go, but at the time I assumed they just didn't subtract the booking deposit from the final bill. However, this was incorrect, and by mid December, after Hertz replied to my bank, it was deemed to be incorrect as the overcharge had nothing to do with the booking deposit. The $350 was returned to Hertz on December 13th. They already have the money. However, in mid-January, I received an invoice in the mail from Hertz detailing that I owed $350, with an invoice date of December 29th. So two weeks after the money was already returned.
Prior to this letter, I also called Hertz yet again, and finally got someone who felt sympathetic and refunded me the $230 I was overcharged. This was done through official channels as he sent the request to their financial team. I wish this had been the result at the beginning, but unfortunately here we are.
Now I stupidly ignored this first invoice letter because I assumed that once their financial team did a year end balancing of accounts, the disputed amount of $350 would be seen to have been refunded back in December, and I just wouldn't hear from them again. However, that was not the case, I got another couple letters from Hertz.
Two weeks ago, I emailed the address listed on this Hertz invoice, and explained, in rather pissed off terms I confess, the entire situation, and that the money had already been returned to Hertz. I made sure to iterate multiple times that they already had the money back that they were requesting. I got an email a few days later notifying me that my email had been forwarded to the Hertz collections team. I never heard any confirmation back from them.
Now, today I received a letter in the mail from a collections agency stating that they have been given the charge and I have 3 days to pay or contact the office or it would be placed against my credit rating. However, this letter was mailed on March 5. And I checked the mail yesterday. It just got here today, 7 days passed their letter date.
What is the best course of actions here? Realistically it probably isn't productive to hire an attorney to deal with a $350 collections charge. I will be calling the collections office today of course. But I wanted to get some advice from the fine people on here. I do not want my credit rating to be damaged.
UPDATE: Spoke with the collections agent who handled this, and she hadn't gotten to processing my case yet. So my credit is safe for now. I sent her my credit statements as proof that the charge has been paid back to Hertz. She'll update me later after she forwards this to Hertz.
If anyone has advice for how to handle this if for some reason Hertz doesn't back down, I would greatly appreciate it. Is it just a safer option to pay this charge, even if that means double paying them, rather than go through all the legal hassle? Like yes it's about the principle of not letting a company walking all over you with no recourse, but at the end of the day, I don't want to hurt my credit rating or have to deal with thousands in legal fees with no guarantee it'll be covered if Hertz settled.
GEICO - How do I bundle home + auto + umbrella and not overpay
CA folks — need some insurance wisdom. New home in contract → current home becomes secondary. 2 autos + want an umbrella policy. Been with GEICO forever but they keep hiking rates. What’s the smartest way to shop & compare bundled quotes for all of this in California’s nightmare insurance market? Any go-to brokers or tools you recommend?
State Farm - State Farm valued total loss truck at 25k and tried to send payment of 22.9k
Buddy of mine is really having issues with State Farm. After a long back and forth they came to a number of $25,750 minus the $500 deductible for a total of $25,250 for his truck. He was hit in mid February of this year. He finally received an email today saying he could accept the payout and the number was almost 10% less at $22,999.19. What in the world is going on here? What recourse does he have and has anybody experienced this? Thanks in advance
Blue Cross - Reimbursed but, Not reimbursed
I need some opinions on what to do.
This is an odd situation.
In past “pay up front cash” dental visits, the dentist offices, with a week or two, returned to me the covered expense/reimbursement from Blue Cross after they submitted the claim. However, this time, I went to an oral surgeon bc I needed a molar extraction that was complicated. I paid $1800 up front on credit card no problem. I would’ve paid double that with all the pain. About a week later I saw that I was covered for ~ $500 on the claim. A check was sent to oral surgeon’s office. When I called them they told me they were processing it and to be patient. This was a couple MONTHS ago. I last called on Monday 7/21 and was literally told, “check’s in the mail”. That’s pretty funny, especially since it is now Friday night and, of course, no check. Something quite fishy about this. I wonder if Blue Cross can do something. I’m interested in thoughts on this. TIA!
