Honda - Adjuster said car is repairable, then tells me its totaled.
Day before I turned 31 this year I got into my first fender bender, I hit their rear end told at fault. Not fighting that, the problem is insurance saw the problems with my car and told me its repairable. Both my fuse boxes were obviously damaged and they didn't write them down, I wait 2 weeks to hear back and I am suddenly told Honda doesn't sell the fuse boxes separate and because of how its placed repairs and labor will exceed the car value. Not to mention I'm only half done paying it off, insurance said they can't retract or adapt their claim because it would be fraud.... I took pictures of my car post accident and you could see those boxes were damaged.
Insurance initially payed me, but even though I gave the money to the garage.. now that its totaled insurance gets their money back and everything is now 100% out of my pocket.
In addition to calling Total loss tomorrow is there anything I can do? I only had my car for 2 years and unfortunately leased at the end of the sky high c
Trupanion - Trupanion 30-day no policy modifications rule -- Has anyone gotten them to fold on this?
I might get flooded with 100 "No, why didn't you read the policy language" comments, but it's worth a shot!
My partner and I have been with Trupanion for four years, and we have a love-hate relationship with it. (But it feels like that's common for most pet insurance providers -as with insurance in general). We have been fortunate to gain more financial stability in the past year and decided we wanted to add "Recovery Care" to our plan. This would raise our monthly premium from $145 to $190, but we decided it was worth it. However, when we reached out to Trupanion via online chat to add this coverage, they let us know that they have a policy that you cannot modify your policy \~at all\~ after 30 days of joining said policy.
This is wild to me because financial circumstances change, and...why would they not want to get more money? Now I'm seriously considering changing providers.
My question, before "jumping ship" from Trupanion is: has anyone gotten them to waiver on this policy? I'm also going to call their customer service line to see if I'd get more traction there compared to the online chat, but I thought I'd ask here too.
Plymouth Rock Auto Insurance - Got backed up into TWICE and their insurance ghosted me
This happened a bit over a year ago. I was driving my girlfriend and her coworker to work and pulled over near the curb to let them out, at the same time another driver starts backing up so I lay on the horn but he hits my car my girlfriend and her coworker both were still in the car when it happened and saw everything. We get out and they are not communicating at all and possibly didn't speak english. Police were called and they didn't show up for over an hour and he eventually started trying to drive off. I follow through for half a block and he stops and backs up into me again. His "son-in-law" came after I guess they called him and he started trying to gaslight me into believing I hit him and theres no proof and that police aren't going to come. LOL. Police eventually pulled up and the other driver started to feign a heart attack or something. They even called the ambulance and the EMT didn't look pleased... I got the police report, report states: **"V1 STATES HE WAS PARKED WHEN V2 WAS REVERSING INTO A PARKING SPOT COLLIDED CAUSING DAMAGE TO FRONT BUMPER. V2 STATES HE WAS TRYING TO TAKE A PARK IN SPOT WHEN HE COLLIDED INTO V1. V2 CLAIMS THAT V1 WAS NOT THERE ARE THE TIME HE WAS REVERSING. V2 DRIVER WAS TRANSPORTED TO BOOTH MEMORIAL FOR CHEST PAINS. PO DIDN'T WITNESS"**. I got the insurance info and drivers info from the police report, called their insurance to make a claim. They instructed me to go to this auto shop and get a quote for damages, went there, the shop said they will call me about the quote. I never heard from the body shop again even after calling them they said they'll send it and never did, the insurance company never again picked up my calls after weeks of calling.
I have liability insurance, with Geico and they said to file the claim with their insurance.
This is in NYC, the other driver had NY plates but insured by a NJ company "Plymouth Rock Auto Insurance"
Due to my girlfriend and I living together, Geico requested me to add her as a secondary driver, I told them she does not even have a license to drive and of course never drive my car. They sent numerous letters and emails about this. Each time I replied online and called in to explain that to them, they acknowledged and I thought that was over. They ended up dropping me, and I didn't even realize for nearly a month and then I was fined by NY for driving without insurance. Paid the penalty and started looking for other insurance. Nobody was willing to cover me due to a gap in coverage, possibly the accident being reported, etc. I was only offered to be insured by GEICO AGAIN LOL. They doubled my rate for liability insurance nearly $400 a month and I've been paying that since.
Need advice on how to get what I'm owed for the damages they caused to my car.
State Farm - Body shop overcharging, insurance doesn’t want to cover all of it? (Total loss)
Taken place in TX with State Farm. Got rear ended. Driver claimed liability. Car is a total loss. Body shop is asking for $2100 and insurance is only willing to cover $1400 and the rest out of pocket. I don’t want to pay out of pocket or through my car settlement, how can I get them to cover the whole amount? I had a rental car for a few days up until I was notified my car was a total loss and insurance doesn’t cover for it after that so I returned it. Am I also able to get reimbursed for transportation i.e rental car or uber?
Progressive - Auto Insurance CLUE Report Dispute Process Help
Hi,
I’m looking for help on disputing information on my CLUE report.
Back in March 2024, in Arizona, US, I was involved in a accident which was deemed to be the other driver’s fault. The payout went out from their policy. We were both insured with Progressive at the time.
When I first called to report the accident, Progressive opened a claim on my policy, I wasn’t aware it was on my policy at the time, however, I made it clear to them that the other person agreed to having been at fault and gave me their insurance details.
When the adjuster first contacted me, they spotted this mistake and closed the claim on my policy with 0 payout and opened a claim on the other party’s insurance, which ended up in a payout of $1400 to me.
While shopping for insurance last week, I saw that progressive is listing the above accident as a non-chargeable at fault accident with 0 payout.
To get this corrected as a no-fault accident on my LexisNexis CLUE report, I will need to raise a dispute, howe
Route 66 - As Is vehicle undisclosed transmission issue, aftermarket warranty denied, and dealer unresponsive
Location: Virginia
I live in Virginia — a state where “as-is” sales are firm, but not completely lock-tight.
I bought a 2015 Chevy Silverado 1500 from a small used car dealer less than two weeks ago. It was sold “as-is,” but the salesman promised a 90-day free warranty at the time of sale. Later, I was told it wasn’t added because he had “already paid processing fees.”
Four days after purchase, the transmission started acting up. By day five, it was shuddering, slipping, and losing power. I took it to a trusted transmission shop, and they dropped the pan and found a significant amount of metal shavings — consistent with a problem that had developed over many months. This wasn’t a sudden failure — it was clearly a pre-existing issue.
I thought I was covered under the extended warranty I believed I was buying through my loan. Turns out that warranty (Route 66) denied the claim, stating the damage was pre-existing.
Here’s what I’ve done so far:
•Filed complaints with the BBB, Consumer Protection Agency, and the Motor Vehicle Dealer Board
•Reached out to several lawyers — I’ve got two consultations scheduled, but they’re still a ways out
•Still struggling to find an attorney who handles consumer auto fraud/litigation in my area
•Tried contacting the dealership multiple times — I’ve:
•Called both numbers posted on their door
•Left voicemails
•Emailed
•Messaged them on Facebook
•Even stopped by in person — no one was there
•The last thing I heard from them was “follow up after the diagnosis” — and nothing since
•I’ve also requested cancellation of the warranty since I feel it was misrepresented and clearly not helpful
Now I’m stuck using money that was supposed to go toward my loan to cover the canceled warranty and looking at paying out-of-pocket for a major repair.
At this point, I feel completely stuck. Has anyone else been through something like this in Virginia? Do I actually have any legal options — or is this just one of those expensive, awful life lessons?
Nationwide - Nationwide. How screwed am I? Planning for the future.
Noticed that my company offered Nationwide pet insurance. Have a 9-year-old large mixed breed dog, 14-year-old Turkish Angola cat, and two one year old Persian cats. Went ahead and applied and all 4 were approved with $100.00 deductible and 80% reimbursement, and $5,000.00 limit for accident, illness and congenital & hereditary. Right now it's a year long policy. I have since been reading up on some horror stories dealing with Nationwide. I wished I had researched more thoroughly beforehand. I just wanted peace of mind. Now I'm not so sure. It is what it is. How do I deal with this in the meantime and what company should I be looking out for next year?
unknown - Opened a car passenger door in stopped traffic in Paris and motorcycle weaving through traffic, slammed into car door
Location: I live in California
Hey guys! Wondering what you thought.
In summer of 2022, my mom and I were visiting some extended family in Switzerland. My Swiss cousin drove me and my mom to Paris, France in his car.
The last night I was there, my cousin asked me if I wanted to go take pictures at the Eiffel Tower. I said sure. He drives his car, I am in the front passenger seat next to him. No other passengers in the car. We are on the street right next to the Eiffel Tower at a red light, sitting in traffic with all cars stopped. He says "OK you can get out here and get to the sidewalk, I will pick you up in a few minutes."
As I open the passenger door, a motorcycle who had been weaving in and out of traffic going maybe 15-20 mph, slams into the car door. The driver and passenger fall over and the car door is smashed. We pull over, traffic around us is stopped. An ambulance comes and help arrives. Unfortunately (worst timing ever), I had a plane to catch to go back to the US. My cousin told me to leave, he would take care of it. I found a cab, took me back to where my mom was staying, and we went to the airport and flew home.
I followed up with him a few days later and he said the motorcycle driver and passenger were fine, they had suffered some cuts/bruises and a sprained ankle. I told him to please keep me posted. He never really had anything to report.
Fast forward to last Friday. I get an email from an insurance company detailing the incident from 2022, with the correct date and what exactly had happened. They found me liable and at fault because I opened the passenger door and caused the injuries of the motorcycle passengers.
The insurance company said they had to compensate the other party, and requested that I reimburse the full amount. It's nearly $10K USD.
I know this is definitely not a scam because my cousin verified his policy number on the letter they sent me. He also informed me they called the police that night and the police never came. He took it on himself to give the other party the insurance information so that his insurance would help out. He never imagined his insurance trying to recoup the money, especially from me.
What do you guys think I should do?
Shouldn't the insurance cover the driver and vehicle?Am I liable as the passenger? How would an insurance company in France enforce that I pay this?
Can they take me to court?
Is it possible that they might try to retaliate with my cousin instead, if I ignore the letter?
Thanks in advance!!!
USAA - House fire displacement fund question (usaa)
Had a house fire, insurance adjuster said i get 5000$ a month for up to 12months for a rental equivalent to my house (3/2 2000sqft)
Well 3 months went by and I decided to move into my own rental house , it’s a 1/1 while the repairs on the house are being worked on.
Now he’s saying he will only give me the going rate of a 1/1 … which is somewhere around 1500-2k, which is a big difference from 5k.
My question is if that 5k per month mine? Something I can fight for? Or do I only get the exact displacement fund I spend , up to 5k
