USAA - $500 policy increase in MA
My policy just renewed this month, my overall policy went from $2300 to over $2800. I had an accident back in 2023, very minor rear end tap. (I was at fault) the other party didn’t bring litigation against me until 2 months before the statute of limitations went up this year in april. My insurance company did pay out the settlement, and I was told I did not have a surcharge from this incident, and that if my insurance was to go up from this accident it would have happened in 2023 when the accident occurred. My insurance company (USAA) informed me of a state-wide increase being put into effect and that this increase on this renewal was only a portion of the overall increase. I’m just very confused, and unsure how it would increase that much if it wasn’t from this prior accident, and my driving record outside of it is totally clean. Been with this ins company for 6 years now, and I don’t want to switch as i’ve enjoyed it thus far but feel like I have to now that i’m being priced out of it. anyone in massachusetts have any insights?
ManyPets - Odie unresponsive after ManyPets transfer
UPDATE: they finally replied and sent me another link to update payment + the portal access link. Unsure what I did.. I guess since payment was involved, they prioritised? Anyway now I can look at my plan, submit a claim, etc. And they said the Comms would improve in the coming weeks. Staying with them bec the premiums were the most affordable with them.
I've seen posts about odie this year but writing about my situation in case anyone has also faced it.
To the people who got transferred over - have you received your welcome email? My policy renewed on the 2nd of January, and I never received a welcome email.
I had to take my cat to the vet and got a 1k bill. There's no place to submit a claim. Nobody is replying to my emails.
And on top of that, I received an email today saying my payment didn't go through with a link to update - BUT THE LINK WAS EXPIRED!! The audacity to ask me for a payment when I have literally no info and no reply from this company.
Nobody picks up the phone. And if the payment doesn't go through, the policy will lapse and that will leave my cat without insurance which is soooo frustrating!!! Has everyone else gotten their account setup emails?? Or even received a response over email??
Their voicemail message says if you email multiple times it will delay the response even more so I'm scared to write them again and again. Advice??
Embrace - Quality of Embrace?
Hi guys,
I used to have Healthy Paws for my cat but wasn’t happy with the service or price, so I switched to Embrace about 3-4 years ago. My cat is now 5 and her current coverage is: $5K annual limit, $1K deductible, and 80% reimbursement.
Recently, they denied a claim for a mass removal on her nose, citing a 2022 note about a mass on her thigh—which my vet believed was just a mild reaction to a vaccine that was administered the week prior reaction that resolved on its own (EXACT same location as the vaccine). I’ve submitted a request to review the claim and re-evaluate that pre-existing condition. This is the first time I've had to disagree with their assesment of the bill, and not sure how that will go. But now knowing that they won't cover any masses (including cancer) because of this makes me anxious.
This made me reconsider Embrace, what pet insurance do you all use, what’s your coverage like, and how much do you pay monthly? Any recommendations for an insurance that would cover future masses (including cancer) even though she had a "mass" in 2022 that was most likely just a reaction to a vaccine lol.
STD company - STD Overpayment
Located in Oregon, USA
Short Term Disability insurance related to parental leave
I took parental leave from work in 2024. My job/company is entirely remote, so my employer uses a benefits manager, JW, for payroll and insurance, and a third party administrator, Sparrow, specifically to manage short- or long-term leave, kind of like a concierge service for employees (because rules vary significantly from state to state). I signed the things that Sparrow told me to sign.
I was supposed to be paid from the state, from private STD, and topped up by my employer. I didn’t have a STD policy of my own; I was told that my employer took out a STD policy on its employees. Payments were confusing, delayed, and as a new parent I was not paying attention. I didn’t tally things up until recently to do my taxes. I’m missing a 1099 from STD so I called Sparrow, who said go to STD, who said go to JW, who said there was no STD policy for me… but if there was it should be in my W2. Taxes were withheld from STD so I said regardless of how we got here, I need an accurate W2, which is in the works. And it looks like I was overpaid by the STD amount.
Lo and behold, today I got a call from the STD company saying my STD claim was denied and submitted for overpayment. I kinda laughed… I’d just been signing paperwork and living my life. How the heck did they approve and pay a claim on a policy that does’t exist? And why did Sparrow/JW request that money? And why was I told it was my company’s policy? So I told the STD company that they can recoup the money from one of the benefits managers. This strikes me as an unenforceable request for repayment from me, but I don’t know what I don’t know and would appreciate any insight about how to navigate this. Thanks in advance.
Aviva - Looking to get a fleet policy for 4 cars
Firstly I appreciate any insight into this matter as it can be a minefield I know!
I’m looking to insure myself (m34) and partners (f30) 4 vehicles, we reside on a non working farm in West Yorkshire but will soon be moving to a similar setup in north wales.
Could anyone recommend a solid company to go with please?
Also open to the possibility of becoming a Ltd company once we move as we will be running a small business from the farm if that helps the situation at all.
we have dealt with aviva in the past and they have always been a struggle when it comes to claims.
Thanks 🙏
AAA - AAA Agent said I needed to get auto insurance if I wanted home insurance?
I just got a good quote on home insurance but the car insurance is more than triple what I’m currently paying (I don’t think that’s what they want the triple to be known for).
Has anyone else experienced this with AAA? I triple checked with her that I heard her correctly. I work from home and rarely drive so I have a mileage based plan. This is not that. She said at least one vehicle needed some kind of coverage and it could just be liability.
Medi-Cal - Medi-cal kept on renewing my family even I submit my income
We have been on medi-cal since 2020. Husband and I both lost our job. When we started working, we reported our income. We had a child and our income still within theamount that qualifies.
2022, I reported my income. And they still renew.
2023, I did not work, we qualified.
2024, I got a new job July, I called and they said my medi-cal will be cancelled by August. I enrolled in my job's medical insurance.
Fast forward 2025, got a letter we qualified. I kept in my record that I always submit proof of income. What should I do?
State Farm - State Farm will only reimburse rental cost
I was rear ended by a State Farm customer and they have accepted responsibility. I have been extremely nice until now but I am done. I asked about a rental car and told them it didn't have to be a big F150 like I drive and I could get by with something small because I work from home and don't go out much. They said great, go rent something and then file for reimbursement when I get my truck back. Since when am I responsible for renting the car and paying for it up front? They won't give me anything in writing that says they'll reimburse me for a specific daily amount or number of days. The letter says "reasonable cost" which is just way to vague. What's reasonable to me might not be reasonable to them. And I'm not, but what if I wasn't able to rent a car myself because I don't have a credit card or checking account.
Side question - if I say I need a truck do they have to cover the cost of renting a truck?
not specified - Auto policy -vehicles in multiple garages
I own four vehicles. They’re all older and there are frequent repairs, so I rotate through them. My 24-year-old son also rotates through them, but mostly uses only one of them. We own that vehicle together. Both our names are on the title. He rents an apartment in a different city an hour from me. My name is on his lease as they would not rent to him without having much rental history. He was required to have renter’s insurance, so as one of the renters, my name is also on the renter’s insurance policy. My auto insurance company just notified me that my policy will be canceled because “Not all vehicles are regularly garaged at your household. Therefore, this risk is unacceptable and we cannot continue your policy.”
My question is, is there any point in me arguing with them? I rent the property so why can’t I keep one of my vehicles there? It’s in the same state, only an hour away. What do people do who have college students who are away at school? What do people do who own multiple properties and keep vehicles at both of them? Is there anything I can do or should I start looking for a different company? Are there any companies that allow multiple garages? Thank you for any help.
*Edit* my son‘s permanent address is my home address, if that matters.
State Farm - I don't want it to be mine at all no percentage.
Had an accident the other day my insurances says I’m 30% and the other party is 70% so what will I end up paying out? Even though the police said he was 100 at fault. I haven't seen the official Police report yet, not sure if the Police added he was at fault in the report. Hoping he did as even with dash cam it shows him hitting me in between my Drivers front fender and Driver's door which I can't open BTW. How can this be my fault in away.. State of Florida is weird with reports they only gave names and insurance info which the other party gave false information for New York driver.
