Progressive - Sold a 25k car with full coverage and bought a $5000 Nissan Leaf with only liability coverage. Rates stayed the same.
Progressive, Northern California, 5 driver/5 car policy. I’m mostly remote now at work and sold my car for a local commuter. With the new car, my annual mileage estimate went down by 5k miles per year. The car is dirt cheap, so I opted for liability only coverage.
I thought I was going to save $1000 per year, but my rates stayed almost the exact same. What’s going on here? Would talking to an agent on the phone change anything?
State Farm - State Farm Comp Plan
Is this a good comp plan for State Farm or should I look elsewhere?
Hey everyone,
I’ve been with State Farm for about 3 months now and just recently had my agent finally sit down and go over my compensation plan — something he’s been promising to do since I started. Here’s what it looks like (full document attached):
• Base Salary: $35,000
• Auto/Fire Base Commission: 5%
• Life/Health: 20% of 12-month premium
• PTO: 8 days
• Penalties: $50 deduction off bonus for every incomplete HH checklist
Bonus opportunities:
• Issue 5 life policies → +3% increase on P&C commissions
• Issue 4 health applications → $250 bonus
The issue is, I was also promised the chance to join the Aspirant Program, which was a huge selling point for me — but as time passes, it’s becoming clear that he probably doesn’t have much control over that, and it feels less and less likely it’ll happen.
So, I’m wondering…
Is this a competitive compensation plan for someone in my position? Or should I start looking elsewhere? I’ve got a background in finance and have been putting in real effort here, but I’m starting to feel like this might not be a long-term fit.
Appreciate any insight from others in the industry.
USPS - Dispute cars value
Is there a way to dispute your cars value ? Insurance gave me a value of $12,000(I think that’s HIGH) for my 17’ Chevy Cruze with close to 180,000 miles on it + body damage . I was hit by usps and the damage is roughly $6,000-6,500 so we tried to get usps to pay for the damage but they won’t exceed $5,400 because my cars not worth more than that to them (which I agree) I’ve personally been saying since I got the repair estimate costs that it’s totaled. Kellybluebook value is about $5,300, a car dealership gave me $6,000 for the value so HOW is insurance $6,000 more than the 3 of those values. If usps won’t even give me the amount of damage shouldn’t my Isnurance reconsider their value ?
Banfield - Banfield Pet Package
I have one of my dogs on insurance, the other one isn't, both of them ended up with allergies before I was able to get insurance going (my first girl showed clinical signs in the first 2 weeks). It's unfortunate as they're both rescues and it's a bit out of my control as they weren't puppies when I got them. I'm thinking about cancelling my first girls because it's done absolutely nothing for me, and switching to Banfield's care packages. I currently pay $45 a month for one of mine.
Just curious if anyone has experience with them, and if so do they think it's worth it over actual pet insurance?
Progressive - Claims
Wondering if anybody has any advice or information they could give me I live in California and have progressive. I made a claim back in January to get a chip fixed with Safelite and that chip still turned into a full crack across my windshield my insurance went up and the deductible to get the windshield replaced was 500, so I decided not to do it
Here we are now in July and I do want to get it replaced, but I don’t know if it’s better to just pay out-of-pocket or go through my insurance again with the risk of my monthly going up. Is there a way I can talk to my insurance so that my monthly payment doesn’t go up or should I just pay out-of-pocket. TIA !
Lemonade - Cancelling Lemonade and renewing with additional coverage
Hi everyone,
I have a 9 month old maltipoo. I suspect he has chronic GERD since he throws up yellow bile if he goes around 6-8 hours without a full meal (like overnight or when he is stubborn and wont eat his lunch).
This is to say I want to take him to the vet asap. But before that I wanted to add dental coverage to his policy just in case this issue persists and it causes teeth problems later in his life and then they wont cover it because it was a “pre-existing condition.” Dental work on dogs is very expensive!
My problem now is that I emailed asking how I can go about adding this to my policy since I couldn’t find how to do so on their app. This is the response I got. i don’t understand why I can’t ADD coverage. I want to pay MORE money. I wasn’t aware that when I bought the insurance for the year it was locking the policy for that entire year.
Now I’m thinking of cancelling all together and renewing with the actual coverage that I wanted. Has anyone tried doing that? Would they let me? Or would they recognize my name and vets and ban me or something.
Thank you for all the help
TLDR; has anyone been able to cancel their Lemonade pet insurance and renew with the actual coverage/policy they wanted?

Erie Insurance - Typical Property Adjuster Timeline?
Had 2 trees uproot one June 19th, one which put a big gouge in the roof and another broke a window in the family room.
We have Erie Insurance, so this was in the middle of their IT outage. Luckily, we had ServPro button up the house pretty quickly. Erie was good with that, even though it took a week to get a claim number for ServPro.
But after that, things have been moving at a glacial pace. Erie reached out on June 30th to say they were assigning a field adjuster. That adjuster finally showed up on July 7th. They mentioned putting the need for a structural engineer to look at the roof trusses, and they would put that in their report. They said it would take 2-3 days before the report would be shared with us.
When we contacted Erie on Friday, July 11th regarding our report … our desk adjuster is out of office until Wednesday the 16th!!!
Is this kind of timeline typical? I know the they had an outage. But it’s been almost a month since the incident. And between clearing the huge trees, the structural engineer, and time for the actual repairs … it will be at least another month before the house is repaired.
Assurant - Should I include Liability in my Renter's policy if it's covered by rental company?
I'm thinking of changing my renter's insurance of 8 years Assurant (Actually did some research and did not hear good things about them) to bundle with USAA. My apartment company has an "insurance fee" as part of the lease which covers liability, so all I would need is coverage for property. Since liability is now part of the lease, I was thinking of dropping liability from renter's policy to save some money. Is there any reason why I should keep liability on my renter's policy that I can't think of?
Nationwide - Nationwide increase...now what?
I've only had pet insurance for 1 year, through my work. I just received a letter stating that my policy is no longer available to me, but I can have their "My Pet Protection Choice" to continue coverage. The policy seems to cover less, and my premiums went up! The doodle (age 3) went from $218 to $458/year and the cavalier (almost 2) went from $270 to $781. The only thing I've filed was when my doodle had a bump in his ear, that healed on it's own, and my payment was just applied to the deductible. For my cavalier, she had a UTI. So, while I begin to shop around, anyone to consider? Or avoid? And how much do you typically pay in an annual premium? Maybe I just have sticker shock and these premiums are fair?
Edit to include- this isn't a wellness plan, they cover 70%. Annual coverage for accidents is $5000, Illness $5000, Congenital and Hereditary $5000, Cruciate $5000, Rx foo $100, Behavioral $100
